Wanted - Gold covered Seymour Duncan Pickups

I just got my hands on Gibson Les Paul Custom in black with gold hardware, and looking to possibly kit it out with SDs...

Isn't it possible to just buy the less-expensive open coil versions of those pups and slap on the gold covers that came with the Gibson? I've been told you can do that.

You can but you have to be able to wax-pot them, unless you want seth lover-esq microphony - and I'm not confident enough to do the potting myself.
