Hello from the Dallas/Fort Worth Texas area. New to Stratocaster guitars and new here as well. 72 years old and recently bought my first Fender Strat.

    Welcome to the forum!
We love all kinds of guitars here! This is a radically diverse group of players that have all come here at some point looking for the perfect tone.

I previously played bass but started playing a guitar again about 3-5 months ago. I have a Sire H7 (335 style) guitar that I put a set of SD Seth Lover pickups in it. Also have an Ibanez AF-95 Expressionist Artist Hollowbody Electric that I put a Bigsby B12 on, an Eastman OMCE QS Acoustic Electric and a 1979 Takimine F-349 Acoustic that belonged to my mom before she passed (wife and I bought for her in 1979 for Christmas).

Very nice! I had an Eastman 335-ish guitar, and used that for a few years until I got a Gibson Howard Roberts. Both have Antiquites, which are my favorite PAFs. I have a Warmoth with some Seths in there, and I like that tone too...just more mids in there.

What is your Gibson Howard Roberts like? I have seen 2 or 3 models

Mine is the first version...they changed it later, adding a wider cutaway, gold hardware, and a finger tailpiece. They also added a balsa (!?!) center block. I owned one of those for years, until I could find the original model. It is a fantastic guitar, although about 9.5 lbs, so I don't use it for super long shows. But man, it sounds fantastic.

Stunning looking guitar! Very nice. Bet it sounds heavenly.
I had a first year Gibson ES-137 Classic I bought new. It was beautiful and sounded decent but I couldn’t deal with the tall flat top frets and sold it. It was hard for me to not go sharp unless I put .012’s on it then it wore me out. In retrospect I wish I had kept it and had fretwork done on it. My only other issue was the gold hardware no matter how much I babied and kept it clean the gold finish was wearing quickly (likely from thin plating).

Thanks! It does sound heavenly...I use it into a Deluxe set between 3 and 4. Dynamite sound!
Yeah, I always had issues with gold hardware. I try to steer clear of it these days. I like satin chrome or black.
