  • The Italian SRV massacre!

I've got to prepare my favourite SRV tune for a new cover band I'm playing with...this is the result of yesterday afternoon.

Very cool stuff, man. Sounds like you've got some SRV tone and some of your own mixed together for a great new recipe. Great voice too! Whereabouts do you play?

Thanks man, but I ony played the guitar parts. The voice was recorded with the backing track.

The sound is the best I could ge out of my old POD, it should sound better live.

I play live in NW Italy...in a few very different bands, one of them does bluesy and classic rock.

Italy is just a bit out of my way. POD, eh? Those things never cease to surprise me.

Care to share those POD settings? That sounded phenomenal.

            Thanks man!

There were no particular settings on my POD 2.0.
I usually use the "modern high gain" amp model witha 4x12 vitual cab loaded with V30's and then add and subtract gain and eq depending on what I play. That's the only amp model I like besides "POD clean" which I find great for practicing because it makes you hear every note really well.

I tried the bassman model but it just didn't give me the feel I needed.

That's the problem with the POD. If you have to cop a style that is based on crancked clean vintage amps...you just don't get the sam kind of sustain and articulation from a simulator...you are forced to turn up the gain (everything gets muddy) or hit the strings harder and your tecnique and feel suffers.

However, the fact that it makes you work harder makes you a MAN.

              Very nice playing man.
At first I found the tone a bit too dark but when I read it was from a pod wow great job man.

I'm sure it'll sound kick ass live.

I could have made the tone a bit more "SRV like" if I really got down to it, but I was just trying to learn a tune.
