This should be stickied as a reference for decision making

It's a shame you didn't have a Custom (ceramic) clip as well

I like the ballsy, old school sounds more, so the C-5 sounded a little cooler to me.

I'm anxious to try out the custom shop EVH, which is like a CC with more top end.
MRID is sending me one to try out. Also, I sprung for the 50th Ann. A2 Seths.
I'm dying to see how those compare to the C-5, regular Seths, and CC.

Outside of those pickups, I still think a C-5 with a few hundred more winds, making it a 15.5 instead of 14.4 would be our ideal pickup. That's the pickup I'm making on Users Day.

I'm quoting myself here, because I've come a long way in a year. Both in my playing, and my ability to hear more subtle differences in pickups. (And having now owned both a CC and C5.)

I'm still a bit on the fence as to which is "better" - I like them both. But clearly, the CC is smoother. I might lean towards the CC in this comparison.

It might also be worth noting that the C5 has become my favorite bridge pup, and its quite smooth, partly because I'm using it with 250k pots. (Or close.)

Your guitaring is great. I always thought wld like the CC better but you proved me wrong I like the C5 better out here. It absolutly does not sound harsh, but MUSICAL I wld say.

I am a C5 user but no doubt here , for this kind of blues music the CC is much better but for a higher gain situation the C5 would be tighter and punchier .
The CC remind me of the fluid tone of J.Winter with his firebird ( alnico2 pickups i guess )

I think it depends on the guitar. In a mahogany bodied guitar, I think the C5 is wicked. The Godin lgHMB is an excellent example. On the other hand, the CC would be a must for a maple necked alder bodied guitar with a floyd bridge.

I just realized I revived an old thread, and I voted twice not realizing I had done so a long time ago, LOL. That being said, at least I'm consistant as I voted for the CC both times
