The one that starts out with the heavily distorted arpeggio followed by several bends.
I can't remember which song it is and I can't put my hands on the CD. I think it's on Royal Scam.

Don't let 'em foul ya. Getting old is a *****!

      Anyway, that's killer stuff.

      Now what was I saying?

"Don't Take Me Alive," that's it. I think.
        Anyway, I love that song.

For me, Steeley Dan is the full-meal deal. You've got great playing, great subject matter in the lyrics, and great grooves.

Play the solo from Kid Charlemagne in a guitar store and see what happens. I think that you'll be amazed by the response, even from the young guys who've never heard it before.

The tones and solos from Haitian Divorce are way cool, too.

I love the guys who can play through the chord changes.

There's a guy that pops in every now & then, Scott Lerner, that plays some killer Steely Dan. Do a search on the forum for him....good stuff!!!

***EDIT...I just did a search & it appears the Steely Dan clip was removed. You can check Scott's music out @ www.scottlernermusic.com though & get a pretty good idea of how good it was.
Wow! Deacon Blues is my favorite song too! This song has an incredible saxaphone solo, and vocal harmonies.

              I also love Babylon Sisters.

I'm a big fan of Scott Lerner. Have you checked out his jazz fusion videos he filmed at home? I'd love to hear him play Steely Dan.

Heh Steely dan talk on a mostly Metal minded board
Anything Larry played on, I have heard tons of music from that area, it is brilliance and elegance.

Re: Steely Dan Solos-which is your favorite?

I wasn't really into Steely Dan back when it was current - too "fancy". But now that I'm more... ahem, mature I've been listening to them a lot.

I found one tune on their "Show Biz Kids" compilation that I had never even heard before, Boston Rag. The solo is a bit simpler that the usual fare, but Jeff Baxter ROCKS.

I love his solo on "Rikki". too.
