  • SH55 Recorded Clips

Hi all, I'm new here. Just thought I'd share a clip I did over the weekend with my newly installed SH55s into a Gibson Slash Goldtop. I much prefer this set over the APHs that came with it.

It was recorded through a Digitech Hardwire Valve Distortion and an Ibanez TS808HW running through a PODXTLive as an amp modeller.

I'm still not sure I'm liking A2 magnets after this set. All the A2s I've tried exhibit a soft wooly attack. What SD set would sound as bright and jangly as the Seth Lovers but with A5 magnets?

Welcome. Sounds good to me considering it was a direct recording. Good playing too.

you could always just swap some a5 magnets into your seth lovers. you can get aftermarket magnets over at http://www.wymoreguitars.com

I was actually thinking of that, but couldn't find any magnet sources. thanks! Would there be any issues? like the original winds weren't meant to work with A5s etc etc?

they should be fine. swapping magnets is commonplace with some of the members on this forum, personally i've used all of the alnicos(2,3,4,5, and 8) at some point or another if i couldn't get the tone i wanted out of a stock pickup.

Man , I love the feel of that one. So relaxing and kick butt all in one. Love the tone too. I wouldnt worry much about the mag swap, sounds great as is.

Thanks! I'll probably play around with it a bit more before thinking of modifications. A bit of a klutz here with stuff like that. Hahahaha... And to think I studied 3 years of electronics... Oh well.
