  • Anyone Know Where There's Some Decent Drum Samples?

I really want to get back into recording so I loaded up my old copy of Beatcraft and started messing around, trying to put a few tracks together for a song or two I have in my head.

Problem is that the recorded sounds just aren't great. The kick and the snare are pretty decent and, after a bit of EQ, the cymbals are good enough to live with but the toms sound god-awful. I spent ages trying to EQ them but still nothing.

So, anyone know where there's some decent sounding tom samples I can load up to replace these stock ones?

I don't mean to sound cheap but I'm completely broke, so free would be perfect.
    I remember calloused hands and paint-stained jeans, and I remember safe-as-houses self-belief.

There used to be loads of samples on the Sonic Foundry (now Sony) ACID website. You'd probably need to download a good few to find something you could use, but there certainly used to be some good stuff there.

You didn't hear it from me but someone I know pretty well would sample his favorite drum hits and then add another sample with it and blend the two a bit to make a new unique sounding sample. This can be done in any recording sequencer package, not that I have first hand knowledge but I've heard.

Oh, nice. I'll look into that when I'm on a computer that isn't the size of my palm. Cheers, man.

That's a great idea! I'd never have thought of that. Thanks, dude.

Samplebase is not free, but very affordable. I have a few of their sample kits and they all sound great.
Why don't you take your little Cobra Kais and get outta here?!
