  • My 1991 4 track album, Ridiculous Guitar....

    http://www.soundclick.com/player/sin...&q=hi&newref=1

I had not heard this in 20 years, a friend in California I had been out of touch with for damn near the same time, told me he had the cassette. He got me the Mp3 files, and hear they be! Recorded in my apartment basement, Peavey Stereo Chorus amp, Ibanez axe, and a Whammy Pedal. I bounced tracks all over the place on my lil Tascam, so it ain't mixed like the modern times,,,,lol. Feel free to download this if inclined, it is a solid bit of my playing history.... At the time, Prince, Vai, EVH, and Holdsworth were numero uno in my influences. Crazy hearing this stuff.

              That was wild dude!

Never thought you were a shreddy guy. Cool to hear how your playing has evolved.

Or devolved..lol I made a choice to relax my playing, as the technique aspect was starting to add clutter, as I entered my late 20s.... I am a child of the 70s and 80s, so the influence was huge, but ultimately the blues aspects, which were my earliest roots of playing, kinda fused themselves to my funk and hard rock personalities.... That said, I kinda want to relearn a few licks, just to see if I can do them.

                  Good stuff

You can definitely hear the old Vai stuff in there.

Reminds me of his Flex-Able and PIL work.

I totally get that. I'm nearly at that point myself.

My chops never got that good.... Flex-able is far and away my favorite Vai album. It was before he was a god, he was simply a freaky geek. All the wind blowing through his hair and the tongue waggling kinda lost me....

The album that was a real shift for me, was Vinnie Moore - Meltdown. That album relaxed all the crazy classical stuff, and really built itself around great rock hooks. At the time, it was the perfect exhale to the excesses of lead guitar. Still chops galore, but the tunes just rock. Esp this sucker, I still love this track!

YES that is a killer album.

I'd absolutely love to play that well. Workin' on it though!

Haha loved that.....yeah totally the 80's are just gone and the 90's was just getting off to a start....
+1 on the devolved thing.....I used to practise like an obsessed back then......later I figured out I really did not like it much, (the technical stuff and fast things for the sake of being.....well fast and such) and went back to my roots as well and just enjoyed music from all walks.
