  • Protools gurus - need help Focusrite IN/ Soundcard OUT ?

Is it possible to record into protools 10 from a Focusrite Saffire (firewire) 24 AND play out through my pc soundcard (Soundblaster X-Fi Platinum) ?
I can get one or the other to work, but not both. I end up having to switch settings, close Protools or switch the speaker inputs - which is ridiculous.

I'm trying asio4all but have not gotten it to work yet.

Not on a PC; you'd need to set up an aggregate device which I'm pretty sure is only something that OS X's CoreAudio supports. Why do you want to do this? The interface should become your new soundcard, and you shouldn't need ASIO4All as long as you have the proper drivers for your Saffire.

I need to do this because at the moment, I only have pc speakers which I can not hook up to my Saffire.

Use the Saffire's Monitor output to your PC speakers. In the control panel for your PC, select Sound and Hardware > Sound. Make the Saffire your default for Speakers. Done.

You're going to need to make a quick trip to Radio Shack and buy some 1/4 -> 1/8" converters or plug them into the headphone jack, in that case.
