  • New song I've been working on

Hey all. Long time no post! I've been busy busy busy since getting to Phoenix and haven't had much time to breath. I'd like to share one of my more recent compositions -- it's a little rough around the edges, but the vibe and ideas are there. It also features (surprise!) various types of improvised vocals by yours truly :P

I like it, but it sounds to me like it might be an introduction to something else... as if it wants to take off (but it stays the same throughout).

Instrumental work is good and well-mixed. I kinda dig the vocal parts... they add to the mystique!

Thanks man! Very useful feedback for me moving forward. I included ascend in the title precisely because it was giving me that feeling, but maybe I can find something to add to the last few minutes to make it feel like it actually takes you somewhere. Always worth experimenting! Thanks for taking the time to listen!

That was cool! Kinda has a Within/Without You, Tomorrow Never Knows vibe going on.

Thank you KenPatrick! I will. I have many new tunes in development that I'm excited about and hope to be able to share in the not too distant future.

The song is charming, have you completed it?

Thanks for listening! I had not completed it, but reading your post motivated me to revisit it, and I composed a new ending and added some final touches yesterday. Actually had to do some re-mixing as the most updated mix was lost with my computer that got stolen, but I did have the original project on back-up. A few notes: I tried to make the ending a "pay off" as per the earlier critique, without letting up on the drone that grounds the trance. I also experimented with a couple things I decided against, like overdubbing all the vocals with my better mic, and adding bass. The bass interfered with the low vocal drone, so I decided that sound is the "bass" in this song and I wanted to retain the original aesthetic of the vocal as much as possible, so I recorded the new vocal parts with the same cheapo mic I used originally. Will be interested to know your thoughts.

And thank you as well Vasshu!
