  • Some Improvisation

    Okay,

This was my entry in an improv competition in a different forum. I thought I might share, I'm new here. Any comments are welcome, though constructive ones are preferred...

The backing was made by a different member at MX Forums called Darkane and I improvised all the lead...

      Re: Some Improvisation

Thanks for the kind words... during that break; did you mean you didn't like the fact that I paused or that you didn't like the phrases I used?

Anyway, I use a Vox Tonelab. I can get much better tones out of it now, but when I recorded that, it was literally the first time I'd used it to record... the guitar is a discontinued Godin guitar from the mid nineties.

            Re: Some Improvisation

Here's another clip I managed to dig up. I made up the piano backing and the rhythm and improvised a quick blues-ish thing on top of it to test out my Tonelab. This too is from the first day I got it.

to record i used an MXL (or is it mxr?) mic through a yamaha mg mixer and i record with adobe audition. i can't get a recording like that again for some reason. I HATE RECORDING!!!

I know what you mean. Sometimes the product that you get is great, sometimes it's not. Sometimes I'll record something, hate it and then later on I'll listen to it and think it was quite good... but I still love to record.

Yeah I like recording but my equipment is terrible. Well all I got is a very old PC mic.

                            Re: Some Improvisation

I'm fine with direct recording w/ my Tonelab for now. When I get a decent tube amp though, I'll probably spring for an external soundcard and a few decent mics.
