  • mixing/mastering headphones

I have already bought a professional headphone amp/dac so now I just need to find it a mate.
I have the AKG Q701 but they just dont cut it for me anymore. not enough detail/nuance and instruments sorta get meshed together.
any suggestions within a 400-ish range?
I was thinking about the shure 1840 or audio technica ATH-R70x but youre welcome to suggest any other pair.

    Thanks!

You should definitely get to a place where you can audition all contenders in your price range. I would suggest that, if you can, stretch your budget a little more; $5-600 is really where you want to be if you are not going to be using monitors. I really like the higher end Beyerdynamic headphones, as well as Shure. My workhorse headphones are SRH 440's from Shure.
Why don't you take your little Cobra Kais and get outta here?!
