  • Whoa!

For the four years I've played guitar, I've struggled to break into the world of playing fast complex solos. Just a little bit ago I sat down with my metronome to practice and I said "screw it" and I tried a different right hand position. Holy Crap My hand wore out quickly because I hadn't tried it like that before, but everything fast sounded so much better. I'll work with it to make it easy to transition from palm muting, but this might be a breakthrough.

Cool! What specifically are you doing different?

I angled my wrist so my hand is almost more in a writing position. Sort of a cross between Eddie and Marty Friedman. It's made synchronizing my hands way easier, I just need to practice it some more. I'll do some string crossing exercises to make it easier to go from chugging to soloing, hopefully it work out!

Be careful with that, as it might cause pain over time.

Definitely, I'm starting it out slow first. If the pain doesn't go away I'll try something else.
