  • Looking for song clips of low vs high volume marshall sounds

Do any of you guys have clips of a marshall amp with distortion up high at a high and low volumes? I have yet to hear the cranked marshall tone yet from my amp. I just want to know how much of a difference I would hear compared to running at the usual 2 on master volume, with the sound differences with a marshall cranked up to 5 or beyond on the master volume. I know that marshall's are the amps to crank loud to get a great tone.

If you guys could post some clips I would appreciate the same riff or song done with low/high volumes, so I can understand the difference for myself.

I don't have any direct comparisons, but here are some samples:
Tele, High preamp, low master volume
Tele with little 59, low master volume on jcm800

jcm800 cranked, Les Paul with DD/59n pickup combo
Marshall jcm800 cranked, JB pickup in Les Paul

If you click on my SD pickup demos link, I have several clips with a cranked jcm800 and plexi

Thanks for the clips, they sound pretty good. This helps me understand a bit more how master volume effects the tone output.

If its a good amp, you don't need to crank it..

Heres a Splawn Quick Rod on half power with the master volume on 2 mic'ed with a shure sm-57 on the 4-12..

Having to crank a 100 watt amp to get a good sound is just not practical in the real world. For Marshalls it is necessarr, but for Marshall-like amps like Splawn its possible to get great sounds at any volumes.

I agree about the volume thing, man...for me it has to sound good and hold its gain at bedroom AND practice/gig levels..

I actually have marshall 2100 slx and it still sounds great at around 2 on the master volume.
