  • Check my tone + Streaming test

    Hey guys........

I'm doing some tests on a few things and if anyone has time to comment I would appreciate any feedback.

At this Link http://guitarlogix.com/logix/?CMT is a clip in flash...

Please wait while it loads.....you should see "Loading" at the very start.

Killing two birds with one stone....

    1) Can you see anything? -- Does my Streaming work?

    if so...

2)How is my tone? ---- what do you think of the sound quality?

If it doesn't work for you....would you tell me your browser type/config and Flash player version?

    Thanks in advance.....

    Hi Fret--

I never got the video. The tone sounded really good. Something was a little fuzzy or "sizzly", but that may be what you were going for. Just wanted to bring that up because some people want that, others don't. Playing was top notch--made me jealous, lol.

Unfortunately when it comes to computers, I'm like a chick with a car--gas and go. Don't know how to tell you what my flash version or browser is.
    My songs....enjoy! (hopefully )

Re: Check my tone + Streaming test

        Thanks for testing guys....

Yeah this one did not have video, it was purely a sound object test.

I'm trying to (among other things) preserve "my" tone through the compression

to enable it to be streamed through Flash.

I will be doing some more tests at a later date that will be video based, as I am trying to improve the quality of that too.

Thanks again guys, for testing and leaving comments, I really appreciate it.

Ok.....I'm trying to get rid of the "fuzzy-ness" ....I recorded a new clip at the same Link http://guitarlogix.com/logix/?CMT I know it's not expert guitar playing or anything but I need the tone to be some what bearable ....I guess I'm "tone" Deaf and need some help figuring this out .....so to the ones that have said it's too fuzzy....can you re-check and see what you think?

            Thanks for helping......

Maybe I'm tone deaf too but that sounded pretty much the same.

Re: Check my tone + Streaming test

Yeah.....I'm on a quest to get rid of the "sizzly fizz monster"...

you can can hear my latest attempt and tribute to the fizz monster at the same link.......

I'm going to try and throw a Sonic Maximizer in the chain before I do any more new tests...but it's going to be a few days before it gets here.

Apparently I'm not alone with the fizz problem....I'm using a PodXt Live and at least half of the people I can see on Line 6 forums are having the same or similar problems.

The current test I have on my site is with absolutely no gain or compression and this time it was mic'd instead of recording direct.....see what you think.....http://guitarlogix.com/logix/?CMT

I have heard that the BBE 882i Sonic maximzer takes the fuzz away so I indulged and ordered one....but like I said It's going to be a few days before it gets here...

I think also that amp modeling in general gives off a "fuzz".......I would be interested in hearing clips by others that use an amp modeling device.

They do.....some models and pickups accentuate it more than others..it's also most prevalent on lead work vs. chording, IME. Smoother pickups def help.

If you aren't already, try using an off axis mic position and then re-adjust your "amp controls"...also if your modeller has a parametric, def use.

                  Great chops BTW!

EDIT: I have a few clips of the POD XT live direct into the computer using just the cheap@$$ Windos Sound Recorder. As well as a bunch of the XTL through an Atomic Reactor which def warms things up (but it still can be a little buzzy at times)

                      JeffB,

Thanks for the compliment about the chops.....Most people hate my chops

Anyway...youre right about the fuzz I hear it in your PodXT too, So I guess I'm right in my thinking......I hope the BBE Sonic Maximizer makes a difference....If it doesnt then there is some other similar gear I am going to try.

As far as mic axis and pickups.....at this point I get buzz and fizz both with going studio direct and via mic.....I have tested with all these types of low noise /output pickups: Lace Sensors: dimarzio YJMs, and an older HS3....all with the same results as using humbuckers etc too. I have done all the tricks too using no compression and no gain, turned off monitors etc and it still buzzes!

This is my quest though, to get rid of the fizz monster......

I know my vol is low, but wasn't sure if you were speaking of mine or not.
