Hey there guys,
I am attempting to pick new pups for my Hamer Slammer series. I play mostly metal/doom metal and want a full think tone (who doesn't?). It has to be able to chug nicely and do sludged out rock stuff ala Sabbath.
If you want an idea of the music i play with one of my bands go listen to some mp3's, this is my hamer with its stock pickups through a Peavy bandit 112...
The combos i'm thinking of are as follows:
SH4-JB (Bridge) + Sh2-N Jazz (neck)
Heard this gives a nice overall tone, but i'm wondering if it will cut it for metal as some find it has a bit too much high end.
Sh6-Dist (Bridge) + Sh2-N Jazz (neck)
So far the SH-6 seems like a nice choice, then balanced out by the jazz...
Custom 5 (Bridge) + Sh2-N Jazz (neck)
The Custom 5, from what i could see from the tone chart looks to be a nice middle ground between the JB and the Distortion. But it seems to have an awaful lot of bass...
So, advice please... and if you have some nice metal(ish) sound clips, I'd really appreciate it!!!
