But a reverb & a looping pedal is cheaper than renting a castle.

If I'm that good, I go for cool, not cheap!

I find it hard to believe that he only used that one mic to capture that sound.

          I have questions:

          1. Do the castle walls make the ambient background sounds all by themselves?

          2. Wouldn't it sound better with a mag swap?

          3. The video says he is playing alone in the castle.... Then who is filming? I bet ghosts!

          4. Is that a jazz 3 pick?

Yeah - I though that too. Seemed a little "processed" beyond the room. I'd have liked the guitar up in the mix a bit. Still, dude threw down!

There is also too much room sound to only be that one mic. This is probably a bigger production than he is letting on. But, it does sound pretty cool. I love big reverbs.

If the mic in set to omni and compressed just right, it could have a lot of room sound on it. But the synth pad track and additional processing is masking what the original guitar and room sounded like.

Playing is cool. I think an IR for the reverb would have had the same quality. Only an audiophile with system capable of reproducing that detail (like a 192k or really hi-fi 15ips analog tape source) would appreciate the actual castle on the track.

I'll run it through my Nakamichi system and see if it is more awesome.

Oh, is that all you have? Well, it'll have to do for now.
