    Unwanted woman tone

Neck pup in one of my guitars sounds like the tone is rolled off even when it's maxed out. Not a huge issue, I pretty much only use the bridge anyway. But I'm curious as to why. Have owned that guitar for over 20 years, it has had more pickups in and out of it than I can keep track of, and...

Is anyone here experienced with EMG?

I think you've got that wrong, mate. A quick look at EMG documentation says that for the standard 89, when you're running it in split mode, the active coil is the stacked one, which is closest to the bridge. Either way, I just realised my EMG loaded guitar is actually tuned to C standard, so it...

Is anyone here experienced with EMG?

I have the 89 and what I think is SA/SA in one of my superstrats. No volume drops between either one, or with the 89 in split mode (or not enough that I've taken note anyway). I don't really ever play that guitar clean, but if you want me to record some clips for you I could do that. Then you...

    Gotoh and Grover tuners

Have anyone replaced one with the other? Are the bore dimensions and position of the smaller screw the same?

    CV50s

Is that the unfinished neck they use on some of the DK24 models? I used to own one of those, fantastic neck (but very poorly built guitar). Always wondered what they used on those to not have the wood soak up sweat and oils.

The pros & cons of alder?

I've seen Nyatoh used on a few guitars. Usually lower end stuff. No idea how it performs.

The pros & cons of alder?

Oooh I remember those. It were quite common for a few years, LTD used it for a bit. Then it disappeared as fast as it came.

The pros & cons of alder?

IIRC, some early Teles (back when they were still called Broadcasters) had pine bodies.

The pros & cons of alder?

Those would weight a lot less due to no headstock and bare bones body. But yeah, its something I heard a long time ago from one guy. At this point, there's probably more unsubstantiated voodoo theory about tone wood floating around the internet than there are actual verified truths. I shouldn't...

The pros & cons of alder?

I talked to a luthier way back who claimed maple was fairly crap when used on its own in a body (as opposed to as a cap or for a neck). An all maple guitar would be very heavy and quite shrill. Allegedly.

    Something Different - EMGs.....

Second that. I have the 89/Sa/Sa setup in one of my axes. I rarely use the bridge in split mode but its good to have when needed.

The SDUGF Official Pics of Your Board Thread

Heh, you're not wrong. That there is baby powder. Use it as part of my stage getup and it just gets lodged absolutely everywhere. Not quite as bad as glitter, but I have found the insides of my guitars (as in the rear cavity for the tremolo assembly) practically coated.

    Mixed Ebony Guitars

Didn't Gibson use synthetic materials for a few years when CITES was in full swing? Rich lite or something. I wonder if those guitars are cheaper on the 2nd hand market now compared to ones with actual Rosewood and Ebony fingerboards. EDIT: That video is 13 years old. I wonder how all that...
