Examples of the JB sounding heavy?

Looking for some inspirations to dial in some tones.

Personally, my favorite JB sound is Arch Enemy - Anthems of Rebellion.

I know Megadeth used it. Wha other cool heavy tones were made using the JB?
Haha I jumped right to reply before noticing you were already ahead of me on the Arch Enemy, great minds think alike lol!

Honestly, I never really understood why Mustaine moved to his active LiveWires (except $$ reasons, of course). I much prefer the JB tones of the RIP/Countdown era.

An interesting sidenote: in a recent interview, Dirk Verbeuren (current Deth drummer) said they did a lot of work trying to recreate a bunch of classic Megadeth tones on the new / final album. I wonder if that means they went back to JB-equipped guitars for certain tracks?

Speaking of Dirk, love his drumming on Soilwork!

JB into:
- Maxon OD-9 or OD808X into 5150III 6L6 50w with 12at7wc in V1, or
- SD1 into JCM800 studio with Hot Mod Evo V2
Both absolutely crushing. JB rocks!

What does the swapped tube do?
As @Rex_Rocker wrote, reduces the gain and takes the fizz out, it sounds punchier and more defined. It "feels" warmer now, but I have no evidence other than my own perception. I did the same V1 replacement in the DSL40CR with similar results. I can now use the whole gain range on the 40CR OD1 channel and the 5150 just punches harder as I turn up the gain past 6 on the blue channel, rather than turning into a fizzy mess.
