I was playing it a couple of days ago and about 30 min in it started crackling. I stopped and checked the amp. I wiggled the reverb connector. It went away but I think I need to crank it to work out the cobwebs. I ordered the footswitch and it still hasn't arrived. I'll keep y'all posted.

Do you have a CS pickup? AFAIK the peanut gallery is where you can sit back down at.

That's so cool you met them. The MJ-made pickup I have, I'd rather pay the marginally uptick in price for CS pickups based on what I hear rather than feel.

The CS version is wound by MJ. Cdntac, in case you didn't know, MJ is Maricela Juarez. Basically, every pickup she touches turns to gold.

I tried vintage output single coils with 500k pots and it was bad. It sounded nothing like a sweet vintage single coil sound. I have high output (12.5k, A5 rods) single coils with 500k pots and it doesn't sound as good as vintage output w/ 250k pots.

Yes, just lower it. I like the mid single as it captures the acoustic, natural sound of the guitar.

I don't think the 20k BKP Ragnorok comparison takes away from the JB. It shows that the JB has some sorcery to it to clean up so well. My Gibson pickups (BB1/2) also clean up well. But the JB has more gain to drive the amp at around 8.5-10.

The JB is the best pickup I have used for cleaning up perfectly when dialing down the guitar volume. I use linear pots. There's n9 loss of tone quality when the volume is down. For some reason I have a hotter pickup, 20k and ceramic magnet, linear 500k pot as well, and it doesn't clean up...

All of this belly aching and bitching about cost. I am sick of it. The custom shop has a layaway plan I'm sure.

9 years later and I still think of zephyrs. A '78 but zephyrized.
