    E string stuck in bridge pickup bobbin

    I was strumming over zealously and the E string slammed into the copper winding of the bridge JB. I carefully pulled the string out and the pickup didn't sound damaged. Is there a chance of damage? Or can the fine copper handle a rough introduction to a 10 string lodged in it?

    I just realized one of my Fender's has a single piece of alder for the body. Is that common? My other guitars are clearly two pieces.

    Tuning your guitar...are you doing it wrong?

    I use harmonics to tune. Who else knows what I mean? 5th fret 7th fret and 4th fret G. I was jamming with some old friends who've been playing as long as I have and when they saw/heard me tune with harmonics they were stunned. You know..a quick tune without a tuner where you and your bros tune...

    Alder vs ash jazzmaster with maple neck/fretboard

    I'd expect the ash body would have a lower resonant frequency than alder so it would sound bassier. The maple fretboard would provide more presence than rosewood. fender ultra jazzmaster
