Who plays on the Custom 7's heavy metal clip ?

This clip is so technically brutal , I'm trying to learn it and : who the hell is this man that plays so amazingly ?

What happened to the "other" rail pups?

Re: What happened to the "other" rail pups? Too bad that Duncan doesn't make more rail p-ups , I have a 7 strings guitar with a broader string spacing than usual , for my big hands , and had not a lot of option , so I installed two Lace X-bar . And they are very good .

Any LACE Death bar / X-bar users out there???

Re: Any LACE Death bar / X-bar users out there??? The deathbucker is not the same as the deathbar as there is twice more magnet . In this guitar the deathbar is too powerful for my tastes , and I will put another x-bar in the bridge spot .

Lace alumiton or other lace pu's

Re: Lace alumiton or other lace pu's I have a Deathbar bridge and an X-bar neck on a seven string modified Chapman Rob Scallon . It is gorgeous , dead silent , and you can achieve all kind of sound . These are powerful but very clear and dynamic pickups , broad EQ , the split mode is...

Blades or poles in the Blackouts ?

Because my guitar have a wider string spacing than usual , I need pickups with blades , hence my question .

    Lace X-bar Deathbar ?

Those pickups are a complete different technology , aluminum frame powered by ceramic magnet . The clean sound is awesome , what about the distorted sound in both rythm and lead work ? The dynamic and clarity seems to be there but is there enough meat to it ?

Distortion neck with alnico 5 ? Custom 5 with allen screws in neck ?

Re: Distortion neck with alnico 5 ? Custom 5 with allen screws in neck ? option 3 : 59 bridge with a row of allen , but I doubt it , 42 gauge tend to be fat and bassy ... ? custom is 43 gauge and sh-6 probably 44 . In bridge = custom 7 , perhaps with alnico 8 . The victim : which will be...

Distortion neck with alnico 5 ? Custom 5 with allen screws in neck ?

I was wondering putting a higher output humb in the neck , which could have enough treebles and harmonics for soloing with gain , with bite and clarity , and wired in parallel for clean work . option 1 : sh-6 neck with alnico 5 option 2 : custom ( alnico ) 5 with a row of allen to tame the...

    Nazgul 7 vs Custom 7

Those two samples are outstanding , by the quality of music , and by the sound quality where you can ear the differences . I prefer the Custom 7 , more clarity , more bass , more treble , less mids but still enough , and sooo agressive ! By the way , I'd really like to know who is the mad man...

Magnet dimensions for a Duncan 7 string guitar pickup ?

I will try a Custom and a Jazz neck for a 7 strings guitar , and try alnico 8 in them . Who could give me the dimensions of a 7 string magnet Duncan style ?

Bone saddle in bridge and nut for solid body

I bought this guitar for the purpose to make it a 7 strings with a wide neck ( cause huge hands ) . So I will have to replace the bridge and the nut . So I was wondering how good would be to make a traditional wood and bone bridge and nut ? Because the metal pieces on which the string goes in...

    Full Shreds 7 strings alnico 8 ?

So I bought those D-Activators , thinking that I could tweek them to make them close to my Jazz and Demon ( 6 strings alnico 8) but they are modern design with big screws , strange glue , plastic , etc . Then now I am leaning towards the Full Shred set , as they are highly tweekable with the...

    Alnico 8 mag for 7 strings ?

Is it possible to find alnico 8 magnet for a seven string pickup ? ( D-activators )

How D-Activators can do that ?

Re: How D-Activators can do that ? So the D-activators probably have underwind coil with 42 for the neck like the Jazz , and 43 gauge like the Screaming Demon , with a fat ceramic to boost the signal . So by changing the magnet for alnico 8 it should be much more mellow ( no screech ) , without...

How D-Activators can do that ?

Those D-activators from Dimarzio have a really low dc resistance and a high voltage output . Are they loaded with a fat ceramic magnet like the Duncan Distortion ?
