Hello Mr. Ginormous!

For my own sanity, I need some help!!!! I need to identify the song/band that has the really souful '70's sound...

The song has a slow tempo, and the lyrics at some points in the tune go something like this (with female backup singers). I apologize if I am making a massacre of a classic:
