    In 1983 (?) I restored a Les Paul that was burnt in a fire, not nearly as bad as this. Every bit of plastic was melted, and every piece of hardware was ruined. Back then a new Les Paul costs less than I charged, but it was a graduation gift from the guys' parents. The grease in the tuning...

    Not likely, but it DOES happen. I bought a dented up Ibanez GAX-50 from a pawnshop down the road for $42. Went home and pulled the pair of Duncan Invaders which I sold to a client for $100. Now it's one of the husks I use for experimentation in tunings and pickups.
