    Pickup Recommendations?

Re: Pickup Recommendations? OK guys, don't get TOO pissed at me after all this, but I decided to go with a set-up I have used before, and just go from there. The devil you know, eh? Yes, is a SD forum, and yes, these are most certainly NOT SD's, but I have used this pair before in a HH Soloist...

    Pickup Recommendations?

So, I was dead set on what I wanted, thought I knew what pickups I wanted, and then I threw it all out the window HAHA Am doing a Warmoth Jmaster build, Alder body with maple neck with SS frets, dual hums, string-thru/no trem. Am stoked, but now not sure about pickup choice. Originally thought...

Pulled the trigger... Warmoth build ordered!

So after more than a year of deliberation, reading, learning, asking stupid questions that annoy everyone, and playing every kind of guitar, I finally made my decision. Sold my Blacktop on Craigslist yesterday, and just ordered my body and neck from Warmoth. This is my college graduation present...

If you only had one semi-hollow

For blues especially but also for classic rock, would it be 72 Thinline or a 335 (or clone)? I've been a rock/metal guy for 20yrs and am "growing up" in what I like to play, have noticed many of my blues loves play semis. Have never played anything but solidbodies with trems, want to branch out...

    LSR or TUSQ

talk to me! Tele body, but a fixed/not standard tele bridge, and I play a lot of blues and classic rock so I do a lot of bends. Have never had a LSR so all I know is that what I've read here on the forums and that it works for Jeff Beck (whom I am pretty much not), but with a string-through body...

    P90s

Can someone please provide a little feedback as to the SD Hot 90s vs the Lollar soapbox P90s? Would be going in a LP.

Patience is one of many virtues I have lost

So, as I've said in a few previous posts, I am just coming back to playing after a looooong hiatus, and am finding I am rushing everything, even stuff I used to play in my sleep. I'll practice it slow with the metronome, but then up to speed I still catch myself getting ahead. Any tricks to help...

    Uh oh - New Project!

Re: Uh oh - New Project! I googled Dean Cadillac to look for something ridiculous to reply with. I was not disappointed.

    72 Tele Custom with humbuckers

Has anybody tried this? The wide ranges that come in the reissues didn't impress it and finding originals or authentic-sounding repros (Lollar Regals are $200+ EACH) are wicked expensive. Am a fan of the body style, just curious how much of the Tele personality gets lost.

Angriest Open D slide lesson ever

This guy had me ROLLING. If they're casting for Anger Management 2, I cast my ballot.

    Jet City or Legacy 212?

I have had my sights set on a Soldano Jet City 20w combo for a while, I love everything about it, but a friend is looking to sell his Carvin 212 Vai Legacy. I don't gig anymore and just play at home (and by home I mean apartment lol), so 100W seems excessive, but maaaaan... that Legacy is t*ts...

What feels like the dumbest question ever

...but am still going to ask it :cool2: Have been doing as much reading/learning/asking as I can for a while before I start a Warmoth build so I could get exactly what I want, and I thought I knew where I was going with it. Then I had a convo today with a very talented guy I've known for 30+yrs...

    Gear question

OK, so I saw this kid playing his electric in the park today, and had the most awesome little toy. I stopped and asked him about it, then like I genius I walked off without asking what it was called. About the size of a large cell phone, you plug your guitar into it with a normal patch cord...

    Airbrush artist / shop needed

Am about to start on my build, and just found out that the person I really wanted to do the paint is pregnant and won't be in the shop again until next summer. Can anybody recommend a good airbrusher who does guitars? Would need to do quality artwork and clear nitro coats - paint scheme...

    "Booster" with microswitch

Let me start by saying I know pretty much nothing when it comes to wiring and electronics. Actually, that might be an understatement. That said, have seen several setups lately where the pins of the neck and bridge pickups are connected with a microswitch to create a "booster" for the bridge...
