    JB equivalent

I think tonerider generator is in the ballpark https://tonerider.com/products/generator?variant=40072441233544 magnet, inductance and impedance are similar, although I've never heard it

Expensive Pickups that should song great but don't

I've just remembered that I have a strat set of Peter Florance's (the 70s set) in a box in the drawer, I do prefer standard SD SSL1s by far

Expensive Pickups that should song great but don't

BTW, @freefrog, since you told me months ago, in another thread, about adding a cap in parallel to the output to shift the pickup peak resonance, simulating a coil cable, I actually started using coil cables only for the first segment, from guitar to the first pedal, and now I can't stop using...

A2 in a JB what changes?

I always used 250K , in my opinion a 500K with the JB just doesn't fit, I'd bet the original guitar for which the first JB was wounded had a 250K vol

Alder wood batches in pre cbs

I once thought body wood did matter but, after 30 years of experiments, I think it only affect the unplugged sound (and back ache in case of excessive weight), it's the combination of the parts that really has an effect on sound and playability, given the fact 80% of it comes from pickups (IMHO...

Cheap pickups that should suck but dont.

Very nice features. I have one too, a blue one I repainted in turquoise, I put an SSL5+SSL1 in , the original double HB config never left me in awe, plus I add a chinese mustang bridge, unfortunately the screws threads of the tailpiece broke soon (I had to expect it) so I put some washers below...

Cheap pickups that should suck but dont.

I had a guitar with a couple of very cheap wilkinson ceramic P90s, they were unbeatable in that guitar, modified a thousand times, always coming back to the Wilkinsons, gave it for a gift to a friend of mine son, always regret it :)

Do you prefer locked or standard tuners?

I had similar problems with locking tuners until I started winding the string for at least half turn on the post before tighting it, I mean, I try to move the string contact on the tuner far from the edge of the hole, the input hole faces the headstock, not the nut, I don't know if I explained...

Do you prefer locked or standard tuners?

Locking, for ease of use, although, if the winding is correct and with few turns on the post, I don't find so much difference in tuning stability

    Guitar Neck Issue

I reshaped two necks, from D and C shape to a mild V (I use the thumb a lot for the E and A strings) , it's absolutely possible, just go slow and try acting smoothly along the entire length, otherwise you colud feel the change under your hand and it's not a pleasant feel in my experience. First...

Weird sound change inverting the phase on a Mustang single coil

I mean , could the distribution of windings matter? I know it sounds colliding with my electronic knowledge, but let's suppose more windings connected to one pole are distribuited on one side of the pickup, top or botton, that way the part of the windings closer to the strings could react in a...
