the fact pawn shops are not common here and the consequent lack of possible bargains like this is disturbing

    Factory pickup heights

I use drill bits to fix the height: I put them on the pole and when they touch the strings the height is ok, I use 3.0mm drill bit on bass side, 2.0mm on treble side, that's my go to distance for single coil BTW imperial measures give me headache, how could you manage such a madness?

Any pickup mod idea before selling a Jumbo MFD equipped G&L ASAT special?

I can confirm these effects of the claws since I remember I once tried to remove them from my Jaguar years ago for experiment, and the guitar was unplayable, it was like blowing your nose with a kitchen alluminium foil, a sea of piercing treble

SHOEGAZE board . . .what would you use ?

If you can find a pedal with reverse reverb, like that gorgeous Hardwire RV7 for example, in to a standard Boss BD2 blues Driver (reverb first, od second, it's important) , boom! Instant My Bloody Valentine, trust me, try it

I tried it yesterday with the band and she sings beautifully, cutting nicely in the mix with a healthy long sustain, a little on the dark shade, maybe two 500k pots could work better, I think I'll try them in the future

    JB vs PG question

The 50s wiring is actually the one I prefer literally everywhere, with single and hb control

    DOD/DigiTech Badder Monkey

I had the Hardwire cm2 tube overdrive and the rv7 lexicon reverb and they were very good and sturdy, I sold them eons ago and regret it since. I had the Hardwire delay too, it was nice but the other two were well ahead

Any pickup mod idea before selling a Jumbo MFD equipped G&L ASAT special?

For those still interested in, the setup with the standard tele at neck and the g&l bridge was too much unbalanced. It happens they gave me a pair of Jaguar pickups, I think they come from a newer Squier, they measure 6.2K and 6.0K, who knows, let's try, I put back the original pickguard and...

    Swapping speakers

I have a 12" (actually a Jensen C12Q) on my Princeton, and the difference with a Princeton with a 10" is huge, even at low volume, who does need a deluxe?

    ZENdrives??

^this if you're skilled enough, anyway any clone around is good, it's a pretty simple circuit, there are not fancy components, even the opamp is not that important as mentioned, in mine I tried at least 5 different opamps, it always sound the same, don't fall in the pitfall of snake oil...

Is there a 6-saddle Tele bridge that drops into a '52 Tele AVRI without woodworking?

I don't want to be the usual d#rk of the bunch but.... do we really need these over engineered and expensive stuff when 95% of the music we love has been made with very, very, very standard things, like common uncompensated three saddles light stamped bridge in this particualr case for example...

    Swapping speakers

Changing the speaker is a HUGE way to modify your sound, trust me, huge. In my Princeton for example (modified for 12") I tried : - Eminence red coat (loud, bold but way too much 'marshally', my amp came with this cone mounted) - Jensen C12N (loud but mid scooped as hell) - Weber Alnico AS...
