Since I installed the JB I didn't like from another guitar into this one as an experiment, I can hardly put it down, and the original neck pickup in this one is also to die for.

I think the JB is very fussy about in which guitar it is used. I got a guitar in which it was installed, it was my 1st JB, didn't liked it at all, compressed, undefined, really bland no matter what I did to make it work. By curiousity I tried it in another one that I was more or less happy with...

Agree, not glassy in mine neither, almost too warm, but I keep it very low and love it splitted as well.

It has plenty enough for me, I love that pedal (full size one).

Fender 351 celluloïd heavy picks and Elixir Optiweb 9-42 for all my electrics.

Oh, before swapping it I changed the tone pot for a no-load one, which is basically doing the same in the no-load position, still found it too honky and compressed to me, the Custom SH-5 is a good fit to my taste, lots of highput and more balanced.

I have these 3, a 59 in a LP like guitar, a Custom in a super strat like guitar with 24.75 scale and a JB in a HSH 25.5 scale. Love each of them equally, they all have their use.

They are currently used by Godin in several of their models.

I know, and agree with the STK-S7 darkness, but I didn't want to remove the inboard tuner integrated with the volume pot, so I went with the no-load tone pot solution which is giving the same end result when in bypass mode and I'm losing less brightness when I lower the volume, so quite happy...

I got the SH-5 from Godin, it must have been sitting in their shelf since a long time, the manufacture date was 2012 :) Before swapping the JB for the Custom, I experimented by changing the regular 250K tone pot for a 250k no-load. In the no-load position it did open it up but still not...

Thanks to all, I made my choice, I just ordered a Custom SH-5, that way I can try it and this will give me the possibility to swap the A5 magnet from the JB to experiment. The SH-5 not currently in stock at several music stores around me, but I found out that it was in stock at Godin directly...

Thanks all. As you can see there is an onboard tuner (N-Tune) on the volume pot that I like, so I don't want to change that one for a 500K. The JB is not bad in itself in that guitar, but it feels compressed and a bit congested in the mids and I was in search of getting into the 59 ballpark...
