Okay since we're on what seems to be a interesting but irrelevant topic.. does this mean you could put magnet-less pickups in the normal positions and put humongous magnets behind the nut to magnetize the strings? Or would that put the magnetism too far away from the pups to work?

Yeah I think we talked about the capacitance in that other thread many years ago! Interesting from your video was the lack of inductance. I wouldn't have expected that.

I mainly did the sand down the wire and solder the tap off of it approach.. and they failed quite a bit. The more successful ones went to eyelets as you mentioned.. But they were all one off for specific designs so I just kept going on each one until that particular pup was done. But...

Sorry, missed this... For what I was looking for (intament, full range tone, low tension) the 12 fret won.. It has required some position shifts that would fall higher on the neck with a 14, but worth the adjustment.

Sure if I'm playing something that's relatively static.. back and forth... More likely I'll be doing something scalar so using scale fingerings is more common for me.

Good point.. I know that you're correct about subconscious learning. I had a period where I had to lay down the guitar for about a year and dreaded relearning.. But when I came back, it took about a day to catch up and within a week I was doing things well beyond what I could do before...
