I've got plenty of p90 guitars but no filter tons.. so what if I try to get the best of both?
I'm thinking about combining a filtertron bridge and neck with a noiseless p90 in the middle. With a modified five-way I get jangly scoop in the bridge neck and combined and using each of the noiseless p90 coil separately, I can get a bit of hum canceling in two and four.
I'll probably dedicate a push-pull to flip the middle position so that it can also be the p90 all by itself.
So just stopping right there, doesn't that sound like it would be a pretty cool mix of jangle and punch?
The next question is how to build it. It'll be 25.5 because that's all I play anymore. Probably not a maple neck to avoid overdoing the brightness.
I'm thinking mahogany might be too dark for the body but I'm also playing around with the thought of a chambered body with a solid top.
So kind of a 25 and a half jet with a p90 in the middle.
Anybody seen anything like this or have any thoughts?
