  • Good to see. It reminds me of a tape deck and amp I hacked into seperate boxes, back in the 80's. I literally hacksawed off the tape section from a 3 in 1 unit. [ record player , tape and radio ] Stuck it in a wooden box I made for it, with an internal PS and line in and outs. The amp was similar, part of a 3 in one unit that I hacksawed off the amp section and boxed it. That included it's PS. I put some line ins and speaker out plugs on the back of it. The two went together like a small micro system.
You've got casstte decks there which I presume you use. Not a lot of people seem to these days but I'm one who does. I have a lot of stuff I recorded of myself on cassette. I've transferred some of it onto my PC and process it.
I've also got a lot of compiled tracks of commercial music from the 90's back on cassette which I find convenient to listen to on cassette. Cassettes work well if they are kept clean and the heads are aligned.
Can I ask you how old you are ?
Have you got a multi meter ? With the power disconnected, you should be able to do a continuity test on it. Set the multi meter to the X10 om scale and short your probes together and zero the needle. Start with one probe at your live in. Test at the switch point with the other probe. You should have a Zero Ohm reading. Then from that point to each PS Live. All these point to point tests should produce a zero Ohm reading.
Do the same with your neutral in point and at the neutral connection on each PS.
Primary windings on PS's are low ohms, so you should be able to connect one probe to your live in and the othe to the neutral in and get an almost zero Ohm reading. you can test your switch too. One probe on each of your switch points and the switch on should produce a zero Ohm reading. Switch off should read as open circuit/ no Ohm reading at all.
Again with the multi meter you could set it to a 250v range or a 1000v or what ever is on the multi meter that is higher than your 220/230v. One probe on the neutral in and then test the live in with the other probe, then at the switch , then at the PS's live in. If you don't get a voltage reading at these points , you have an open circuit some where. If you do and it still doesn't want to work , your neutral may be open circuit some where.
If I bypass the switch and just twist the on/off leads together...the tester won't light up after/past the joint. (from there the hot wire splits to the two PSU's...but there are'nt any signs of life beyond the switch/point) I'm pretty sure everything is secure I've checked it repeatedly (for bad connections etc) but it just won't work (?). There's no damage to anything (everything still works hooked up separately)

Any chance of a pic of your wiring? I gather from what you're saying is that if you take out the switch and wire the two wires to it together, you're getting nothing beyond that point ?

I went to see him at a guitar clinic a few months ago, he was incredible. Ive loved Annihilator since I saw Stonewall on the TV 20 odd years ago. :)
Yeah. It is an awesome axe. 81/81 combo on it. I am surprised how good 81 sounds on in the neck.
3-4 gigs is pretty good IMO. Lets you spend time with family as well.
Haha cool. MIJ dinkies are great guitars. My wife and I were expecting so there were a lot of changes in our lifes. I also figure If I spend the time instead playing than typing I can actuallly get better :) So this sunday is my first father's day. Excited....
I am sorry it didn't work out. I didn't get the V either. I was planning to buy ESP LTD V-401 from musiciansfriend.com since it was discontinued. I decided wait for the black Friday sale but I was already sold out by then. :( I can get the V-300 which is exactly same but $100 more :)
I just saw that you have updated the thread with pictures. From work they are blocked but I will definitely check it from home tonight. Thanks.
That sounds great. I don't use the bridge for cleans anyway. They tend to sound too thin IMO. I want a AHB-1N and AHB-2 combo in my next guitar. Please, please, please record some clips ASAP. I am dying to hear a good sound clips, youtube videos out there are crap. Thanks...
Hey awesome....Congratulations! I have two little monsters of my own, it definately is a life changing experience. Yeah, I have been playing quite a bit myself, even got back to doing a few gigs with my old band after a gap of almost ten years..
