I can't imagine during what period your boss played jug for them because there is no documentation of any jug player other than Tommy Hall. At least Tommy played on all the recordings and during their heyday in Texas and on the West coast.
I rarely run into anyone who has ever heard of them or Bubble Puppy. When we got to the gig w/ BP they were already set up and apparently had done one soundcheck earlier in the afternoon. Long before the doors opened and shortly after our warmup, they walked out onto the stage, picked up their instruments and started "Elizabeth". No click, no counts, no nothing. They were the tightest band I have ever heard. I went on a website (or myspace or whatever) of Todd Prince (one of the guitarists), and he said they practiced for 10 or 12 hours every day for about a year before their first gig. I may be remembering it wrong, but it was something outlandish like that.
