My only complaint with the desertburst finish is that the back of the guitar is black which means any scratches the guitar gets will be more noticeable because of the darker color.

That's probably the finish I'd want most, if I bought another LP. I like that one, but the 60's neck is a deal breaker. It's gotta be the 50's/59 profile.
Otherwise, $1700 is a fair price for that nice guitar.

Joe is right, I'd want a 50's profile, but $1700 seems pretty fair. I'd want Honeyburst/Amberburst/Iced Tea most, but that's me. Then again, I already own the single coolest finish Gibson ever produced, so I'm set for a while. :)

The "50's" neck is actually about the same size as a 1960 reissue most of the time and I find that too small...I also find the 1959 neck too small as well and it's a good bit larger than a "50's" neck...I prefer the "early 50's" profile found on 54, 56, 57 and 58 reissues...now thats a mans neck!

that's a nice looking LP!!!! i'm curious as to why the back and neck is solid Black.... i've never seen Gibson paint that way before

Desertburst is awesome. Love it. Gotta say I prefer the '50s profile better though. '59 profile is my favorite.
