'07 Fender Vintage Hot Rod 52 Tele

Re: '07 Fender Vintage Hot Rod 52 Tele

Well we haven't heard from him since 2:00 so I'm guessing it was alright...

Re: '07 Fender Vintage Hot Rod 52 Tele

WOW !! This is one fine guitar. I have three other teles that I love but this may be the best. It has just the right feel and looks killer. The bridge pup is more like a vintage sound to me and I like it. Its tight and compressed with all the bite you would expect from a good tele. The SD miniHB is just right also. Bigger sounding, of course, than the single coil but not so much contrast that it sounds weird when switching back in forth, even during the same run. The neck pup is perrrfect for a cool jazzy or blues tones. It also rocks its arss off. Man am I glad I spent the $ on this one. It's also super with all my pedals. I can get almost any tone for any type of music in this one guitar. All of this and right out of the box. Intonation is nuts on. Neck is a u type but not too thick. Frets are nicely finished and feel extra smooth at the edge of the freatboard. I have NO regrets here and thats saying something for me I'm not easy to please for this kind of money. If you are considering one of these teles (or any tele) I'd say go for it. You won't be disapointed.
Ok, as far as a reveiw thats the best I can do. Now I'll go play my guitar.

Sorry for the delay but I've had a little medical issue to deal with.

Yup...'bout $1600. I paid a little less, but I've bought a lot of gear from this store. I tell ya it would be a deal at $1800, cause the more I play it the better I like it. Even today as I played it I felt that this may very well be my all time favorite. Now let me just say that I am a tele lover and have been for a few years now. For some who don"t like teles (something I can't imagin) this may not be a turn on, but man it is sweeeet to a tele man like me.

Re: '07 Fender Vintage Hot Rod 52 Tele

That's a sweet tele. Too bad it's $1600, but I guess I can always find a nice mij or mim tele and mod it.

Re: '07 Fender Vintage Hot Rod 52 Tele

Sure can.

And I'm looking for one as we speak you bastid, lol. I blame you and this stupid thread for renewing my tele GAS. But you know what, better that I have tele GAS, b/c last wk it was 59 LP GAS, which is a lot heavier on the wallet. I've already spent entirely too much money this yr on gear, new acoustic, new amp, another lp, emg set, more pedals and soon to be a tele, who knows what next. I guess GAS is something that never sunsibes, just transforms into GAS for other things.

Re: '07 Fender Vintage Hot Rod 52 Tele

Do a search on ebay for mim tele. I bought a flawless one about 5 weeks ago for under $400. It is a great guitar. I have not had much luck with mij fenders. I've read about a lot of dudes that love them but I've had two and they were rough. Plus they sounded like crap.
Better yet, save the GAS money a while and get one of these killer VHR52 teles.

Honestly, I would love a VHR52 tele, but cannot bring myself to spend that kinda money on a guitar that isn't gonna be my main player. My epi lp custom (best epi I've ever seen/heard/played) is my #1 and always will be unless I get rich. For me $1600 could go to better use i.e. my buddies h&k ar15:rocket: Also, you are the only person I've heard talk bad about japanese fenders, everyone else I've heard from here and elsewhere swears they are killer, I'm going to a good local shop tomorow afternoon to check some axes out.

Re: '07 Fender Vintage Hot Rod 52 Tele

Hey, like I said I've read about all kinds of dudes talking 'bout mij teles and they love 'em. The ones (2) I had just didn't have fit and finish or true tele tone. Plus they were not cheap. I turned them as fast as I could. Maybe I just bought a couple of stinkers:fart:, but they were from two different sources. Oh well, water under the bridge. Your epi lp sounds very cool and it is so special when you find that guitar that just sets ya free man. I love it. Play on !

Re: '07 Fender Vintage Hot Rod 52 Tele

Well, I'm still in the hunt for a tele, but will have to put it off for a little while, that is unless I find "the one." I just pulled the trigger on a CIJ strat, hopefully it'll be a good'n, wish me luck.

Re: '07 Fender Vintage Hot Rod 52 Tele

I hate to say it, but Fender stole the cocept of that guitar from Xcessive. Mike "customized an American Tele with a Duncan Firebird pickup in the Neck and a hotrail in the bridge. He also had some cool inlays done (by Cris Mirabella) on a maple Fingerboard. The inlays are flames going up the Neck and Maltese crosses for dot markers. I now own this guitar. He called it the "Twistedcaster" Very versatile guitar and it plays like a dream.

Cool. I don't care who stole what from whom just as long as we get to play'em. I bet thats one good lookin guitar you got there.

Re: '07 Fender Vintage Hot Rod 52 Tele

I been playin this guitar now for a little over three weeks and it's only gettin better. I had a super guitar tech do a little neck pup (SD min HB) adjustment for me and man it really came alive. You all may be sick of me singing this same old song 'bout how sweet this guitar is, but I've been lookin for this sucker for years and years, and I don't even know exactly how many other guitars I've bought hoping they would be the one. Maybe it's just this particular one and I just got lucky but I don't think so, cause I keep reading other reviews and have not come across one yet that's less than glowing.
If you are considering a very versitile guitar and you love that sweet compressed bitey blistery tele sound plus a super good HB try this guitar.
IT'S A PURE GAS ELIMINATOR. Well the GAS might come back but it won't be for a guitar, maybe a ????????:bigthumb::bigthumb::bigthumb:

Not to derail your thread, but what is "true tele tone". Jimmy Page's tele tone doesn't sound anything like Roy Buchanon's tele tone who doesn't sound anything like...

Does JP sound like he's playin a tele when he's playin a tele? Same for RB. How about Danny Gatton, Jeff Beck, Johnny Hiland, Brent Mason, or Scotty Anderson? Does it sound like a tele when they are playing a tele or does it sound like strats or lp's. Hell, any guitar will sound different in the hands of different players in different types of music, but a tele sounds like a tele and has a classic true tele tone.
Having fun playing, glad you are too.
