Re: ~ * #1 * ~

I've played a lot of guitars, but this one just "feels" and sounds right to me. It's my baby and I can't forsee myself selling this:

Re: ~ * #1 * ~

My #1 over the last few years has been a 2002 58Reissue Les Paul. Wife bought her for me for my 40th birthday. I added some great pups, actually tried a lot of great pups before settling on this set, added some tone pros stuff as well. It's a light weight lester weighing in about 8.5 lbs. Just a joy to play amped up or unplugged.

I've tried a lot of guitars in an effort to find something better, but I keep coming back to this one. In fact, the PRS Mccarty BLE couldn't knock it off it's perch, nor could the Heritage 535 or the PRS Mccarty soapbar I had. The new 56RI Gold top is giving it a strong run for it's money, but it's still waiting on the Tone Pros upgrades to arrive.

All that being said, I have this Godin LG p90 that defies logic. It plays almost as well as either of the les paul custom shop models, but it's only costs like 10-20 percent new of the cost of those les pauls new.

I cannot overemphasize what a great guitar Godin makes. I'm blown away everytime I play it. I has now been taken to my office to be my #1 at work! :)

A guy I used to jam with had one of Godin's really high end models. He paid 2.5 grand for it Canadian. Incredible guitar. Depending on how you had it dialed in, it was articulate, warm, rocky, just an amazing musical instrument.

He sold it and bought a strat. :smack:

I don't think the lg series defy logic. Unlike epiphone and agiles, they have all mahogany construction and sweet pickups. The P90s lack mids but I've become convinced that it's just a matter of matching the guitar with the right amp. Thinner finish, set neck, I've become convinced that one of these will be my next guitar. Everything about it just ~makes sense~ except for the body shape. How do you like the longer scale when you switch between it and your Gibson?

Re: ~ * #1 * ~

my 98 Gibson The Paul II. I call it Jon Paul II cause that's what the truss rod cover almost says if you're kind of drunk and sleepy and illiterate in teh first place. I'd like to say my old no.1 was my Jaguar, and it's still probably the nicest playing axe I own, (unless John Paul comes back at %110 percent) but I played my Schecter more. It's just more versatile. The only thing about the gibson is I'd like a little more crunch at the bottom end... but I could hardly tell because before I sent it to the shop, the A and E strings were basically rattlers.

I'll post pics when she comes back from the shop (fret dressing and setup), and when I get batteries for my digital camera (I finally got it back... without batteries:() Think the blackest les paul you've ever seen... no binding, b/w/b pickguard, black pickups, almost completely black headstock... etc.

Re: ~ * #1 * ~

Mine changes a lot, but for now:
Fender Deluxe Fat Strat - BL L-500XL Bridge and DragonFire Zebra Rails Neck
Fender Super Bullets (10's), Fender LSR Roller Nut, soon to have Sperzel locking tuners
Maple neck and fretboard, Alder body, Vintage tremelo bridge - 5 springs

It's got the neck from a standard MIM strat that I've had for years and the body from a deluxe series Fat strat that I picked up brand new a couple months ago.
I added the nut, pick-ups, new pickguard, and once I get the new tuners on, this beast will be complete.
A good guitar will treat you better than any woman :13:

Right now it's my Schecter C1+ (C5/Jazz), as it's the only fully assembled electric I have here at the house haha. I've had this guitar for several years now, and it's been with me through a slew of other axes. Something is telling me the current guitar I'm planning out will become my #1 very quickly though...

Re: ~ * #1 * ~

Second year Squier Telecaster. I've had it since I was 14. It's my #1 now more than anything because it's been through so much and still sounds amazing. I'd just as soon give up every $1000+ and vintage guitar I have for pocket change than let that one go.

I've requested that it be cremated with me when I die and the ashes scattered into the sea.

So if you find a Fender neckplate on the ocean floor off the coast of Nantucket.....throw it back. I'm still using it.

Re: ~ * #1 * ~

i can't really say i have a number one right now. I don't play my electric as much anymore, and i plan on jamming with my friends acoustically for a while. And there is no way i would consider my costco special acoustic is my number one (i dont even own it) so i would say it would be the next guitar i buy would probably be my number one, and most liekly a taylor acoustic guitar or possibly another brand of acoustic guitars.

Re: ~ * #1 * ~

my number one was my schecter XXX until my new tele came to be...this thing is just a monster, i've never heard such a thick sounding tele before, it started life as a US made HS tele and transformed into the perfect guitar for me! it has a hotrails in the bridge and an SM1 vintage mini humbucker in the neck. it's my #1 but i haven't got to play it for a few weeks...it's in getting inlay work done and man i miss it...should be back this Sat i hope! so right now i'm playing my new LP studio alot but the tele is still #1 for me!

Sorry for the rant ... I guess it was one of those "Fool me twice, shame on me" things. Karma's a b!tch though ... their store folded last year.
Good to hear, sounds like they deserved it (not that I wish ill fortune upon local businesses, but after they treated you like that...)

My #1, my black LP Studio, JB & Jazz, CTS pots, Tonepros Bridge & Tailpiece, Locking Grovers.

I've owned it since new and it has been through all sorts with me, nice solid neck and built well, what more could I ask for? (Don't ask, there is a list..., and it's big.)

Wooooowwww...

I don't have a No.1 per se, but my '95 MIA Strat was my 1st geetar, and the only "OG" to stick with me all these years. I give it about an equal amount of play time compared to my other guitar but I'd consider it my No. 1

..................... is that the same grey tele you had before, if so that is my dream guitar sir, a tele that is HS with a maple neck/fretboard and a hotrails bridge, curses must stop the gas :32: :32: :32: :32: :32: :32: :32: :32:

EDIT: what kind of inlay's are you getting done on that beauty?

Re: ~ * #1 * ~

My #1 is my first "nice" guitar, my Epiphone Les Paul Classic Limited. This guitar sings on its own. It also feels very natural is one of the best sounding guitars in my arsenal. Its loaded with a C5b and '59n and has a beautifully perfect flame "maple" top.
