10" speakers for fender applications

Our Neighbor Totoro
There's a LOT of 10" speakers out there and it's hard to make sense of what's what.

Basically the 10" in my SCXD can be kinda shrill and at the same time flubby in the bass. I wanna experiment with it some more of course but I wanna know what's good as far as 10"s.

So since I like the blackface settings on it the most I thought I'd get a speaker complimenting that. I thought wtf would a comparable REAL BF amp use? Well its close is size, shape, and power to a princeton, and those used Jensen C10R's?

Is the C10R any good? the P10R's got some AWFUL reviews on harmony central, but some of that's gotta be BS right?

Many SCXD modders insist on a Ragin Cajun from eminence.

anyways what do you guys have experience with?

Re: 10" speakers for fender applications

I use Jensen C10Q's in my super reverb; they sound exactly like the original Jensens that were in there. My super is a black face so I needed it to sound original.

Re: 10" speakers for fender applications

I use Weber 10F125's in my Vibrolux Reverb. I couldn't be happier.

Re: 10" speakers for fender applications

webers 10a150t is probably the best 10" ive heard. a wide fat tone with good high end detail and LOUD, louder than a emi red fang

the newer p10r is pretty awful so i cant imagine the c10r being that great. the p10q is better so i would assume that the c10q would be better too.

the eminence 10's that ive tried i have liked alot but the weber 10's that ive heard are spectacular. bang for your buck the emi's are great sounding and wont kill your wallet. if money isnt a factor look into a weber. for a 1x10" like the superchamp i would suggest a 10F150T, its the cone from the 10F125 but with the bigger voice coil

Re: 10" speakers for fender applications

eminence copperheads or ramrods, both fantastic speakers. I put a set of ramrods in my BFVR and they kick ass!

Re: 10" speakers for fender applications

wow yea I was looking at weber but they just have model #'s it's hard to sit and compare without feeling like I'm doing schoolwork.

Money's not too much of a problem, after all I saved a lot of $$$ on that amp. Never thought the cheapest thing on the list worked best.

googling the 10F150T, people often say it's THE speaker for a princeton, but so many people want to compare it head to head with the eminence RC. I heard weber's shipping costs can kinda bite, though. Are the webers really 30+ dollars better?

Re: 10" speakers for fender applications

i have a lil buddy and used to have a ragin cajun and i liked them both, also liked the copperhead i heard but my weber 10a150t is well worth the extra dough. its louder and wider sounding than the 12" red fang in the same amp. the 10f150t is the same thing with a ceramic magnet

Re: 10" speakers for fender applications

which do you think sounds better with higher gain, alnico or ceramic?

would alnico smooth out the harshness of the solid state preamp?

Re: 10" speakers for fender applications

i prefer the alnico but honestly i havent tried it with a ss amp and i dont play with lots of gain. my tone is plenty dirty but not high gain.

if i were you i would roll with the ceramic, alnico is cool and has a great vibe but isnt for everyone and doesnt get along with some high gain tones. ceramic is the safer choice and cheaper.

Re: 10" speakers for fender applications

I've also got a pair of weber alnico sig 10 and sig 10s in a bassman clone. They take to the dirt really well.

Re: 10" speakers for fender applications

i have SCXD and i was looking at the Weber 10F150T, lots of good reviews. I also heard that the RC takes some of that fender chime away.

Re: 10" speakers for fender applications

I took my blackface Vibro-Champ to the local music store and let them deal with it, so they ordered a Celestion T for it, and it sounded kinda not so great. This was many years ago, before I realized how much music stores blow goats.

Re: 10" speakers for fender applications

yeah it's far easier for me to do some product research, buy it and put it in than to have some weird guy NOT do the research and put in something whack as hell.
