...the Ibanez JS series of guitars. The ones painted by his sister. God I thought they were cool. Oh, and a Dana Alvarez Scoop.

How tastes change :nervous:

What about you guys? What was your GAS ten/five years ago?

Re: 10 yrs ago, I gassed for...

10 years ago I was 8 and GAS meant farting, and GAS was funny. Hell, it still is.

Re: 10 yrs ago, I gassed for...

about 6 years ago i wanted a strat witha single hum, like tom delonge. I also didnt play guitar. Once i started actually playing guitar, about 3 years ago, i realized how bland and easy their music is to play.

Re: 10 yrs ago, I gassed for...

8 years ago, I think I jonesed for a Fender amp and a Gibson Les Paul. I had pretty good taste back then ;)

Jackson Kelly .... ended up buying a Performer series Kelly.

Lesson = Should've held out for the Marty Freidman model

Re: 10 yrs ago, I gassed for...

Ten years ago...I actually was taking a break from playing music. I started (bass) when I was 13 and played pretty constantly for a couple of years, but during high school I almost never touched an instrument. I had, however, succumbed to my first ever GAS only about a year earlier when I saved up about $600 to buy a Carvin LB20 Fretless bass. It's a fine bass, though it shows its age and the fact that it was owned by a teenager, but I NEVER play it anymore. I still play my first bass: a '91 Peavey Fury that's now strung with flats. I still play the Warwick 5-string I bought in college. I still play the hotrod MIM Jazz that I got for free from Fender in '03, but I never play the Carvin. Mostly it's just that I don't need a fretless, but I have to admit that little about it inspires me anymore. From the looks to the feel to the sound, it just doesn't connect well with what I look for in a bass these days. I'm planning to sell it on eBay as soon as I get some photos taken of it.

Re: 10 yrs ago, I gassed for...

10 years ago was right around the time i strated playing guitar...i had gas for a les paul since my older brother had one and i loved playing it and i had gas for a gibson SG since that's what Tony Iommi plays and he is one of the reasons i started playing guitar. now i have my les paul (in avatar) and had an SG clone (esp viper) i sold...i still want a real SG but it's not high on my list anymore. now my high dollar GAS is a PRS. knowing me i'll end up buying 3 or more other guitars before i buy the PRS though i'm an impulse buyer and it sometimes pays off other times it doesn't...like the ESP viper which is the only guitar i ever returned.

5 years ago I was wanting a Sunburst Fender Strat, a Butterscotch Tele, a Vintage Sunburst LP, and a Oly White Jazz Bass. Still want all of that. Oh, a the biggest Fender amp that I could find. Still want that too. :D

Re: 10 yrs ago, I gassed for...

I should post pics of my Jazz. It's not Olympic White (it's Arctic) but the snakeskin pickguard, DiMarzio UltraJazz pups and Badass II bridge make her kinda fancy.

Re: 10 yrs ago, I gassed for...

it was more like 15 yrs ago, but the first guitar that I thought was really cool, was a hot pink Peavey Vandenberg.

Re: 10 yrs ago, I gassed for...

My Kramer Striker w/ slanted pickups & pointy headstock.... but that was a long time ago!

Re: 10 yrs ago, I gassed for...

10 years ago, I wished that I had my SF Vibrosonic Reverb and my Jimmy Wallace Les Paul back. Now, I still wish the same thing. I suspect that these gear mistakes will haunt me until I die.

Re: 10 yrs ago, I gassed for...

I started playing in March of 2001, and the first guitar I ever wanted was a Mars Music exclusive Gibson Les Paul Standard Double Cut Plus in Midnight Burst. I never got it though, as Mars went out of business shortly after. Now, about 4 years later, I've recently taken to ebay searches for her, and have looked into Warmoth to possibly have a similar one built. (but if I take the Warmoth path, there are pros and cons. Con: (and a major one) bolt-on neck. Pro (and a MAJOR one) quilt top, as opposed to flame. To me, nothing is more beautiful than a blue quilt top... mmmm

Re: 10 yrs ago, I gassed for...

10 Years ago if you told me I would GAS for a Peavey guiitar I would have laughed in your face.

Re: 10 yrs ago, I gassed for...

Well, 10 years ago I gassed for a Gibson Les Paul, I did have a White Epi Custom, a white Ibanez and a Marshall Jubilee. All that got sold BTW, Now I have the Gibson, a White EPI Custom and The white Ibanez AND the Jubilee. I came across a pic I took 10 years ago and there sat those 3, its kinda cool that I have replaced them almost exactly. The Ibanez was my first guitar and I searched ebay till I found an exact match that was perfect, about 2 years!
