12 screw pickups need 12 screw covers, why won't Duncan do that?

Seems obvious. If you need a cover on a 12 screw pup like a Full Shred or Screamin Demon, it should have a 12 screw cover so the poles are still adjustable. Duncan doesn't offer that option though for some reason. Their covered versions cover 6 of the screws and prevent adjustment. I don't get it. Dimarzio offers that, and they used to sell the covers to, but they stopped selling them (probably to keep people from putting them on other maker's pickups).

Who would we have to petition/spam to make that happen?

After you bought the cover from them why would they care what you did with it? If anything I think they would be pleased to see the covers hiding other makers pickups. The logic seems lacking here.

No idea why duncan doesnt do it... probably cause the demand is low.

If it were up to me I would offer 12 hole covers, bobbin colors and gold/chrome/black chrome covers and poles as a shop floor custom for a small up charge. Maybe 10-20$ up charge depending on the cost of materials and labor. I wouldn't charge someone full custom shop prices for small cosmetic tweaks. But that would necessitate a prototyping system like Warmoth has for its online catalog.

Or they could just sell the covers and we could install them, no biggie. It's my understanding that they DO have them, supposedly there is some model they use them on, but they don't put them on the obvious ones. *boggled*.

Yeah I agree. Then again, DiMarzio does sell pole pieces in various colors (black, gold, nickel) for $5 a set, but Duncan will absolutely not sell their pole pieces (I tried to get them to send me a set of full shred poles to try in a custom, no dice).

Schaller make them in various colors, but they're not cheap

Re: 12 screw pickups need 12 screw covers, why won't Duncan do that?

Yeah I've heard, but there is no supplier in the U.S. that carries them, as with many schaller products.

Re: 12 screw pickups need 12 screw covers, why won't Duncan do that?

Like Edgecrusher said, I imagine the demand is so low on them they have never even thought about it.

Seymour Duncan has twelve hole covers on the AH Metal Fatigue p/u

Lt. Pepe,
Beat me to it. However, I called a while ago and talked to to MJ, and she sold me one 12 hole nickel cover over the phone. I used it in an experiment with slugs and screws both protruding. Got a little more round sounding, and mean little! It looked so bad I took it off the next day.
It was too expensive, looked bad, my fault, sorry I did it. Used it on a single pup bridge Seth Lover.

Oh nice, last time I checked PLS they only had raw, unplated nickel.

How much did MJ charge you for theirs? It's for Duncan pups so at least I know the spacing would be exactly right. Really need one in gold to and PLS doesn't have that.

RayBarbeeMusic-
I do not remember. but I believe it was in the range of 15 bucks or so + shipping. Again, this was a while ago maybe a year or 2. My memory can lock on the dumbest, most useless piece of info, and forget my own birthday, which I do every year.
