12 Strings guitars, what are the choices?

Pretty straight forward... So far I found the Gretsch G-6122 12... a bit out of reach.

On a reasonable budget I only found the Dano '59 12 string or the Dean Sarasota 12. Don't tell me these are the only option if you are not prepared to put a 4 digit price tag (in £)!

I have seen some lute players these afternoon, and the richness of their double stringed melody just blew me away. I would not be prepared to get a lute, but a 12 string guitar would be close enough to me. Hollow/semi-hollow body would be a must.

there's a Fender Stratocaster XII that's a 12 string solid body SSS Strat.

OH!! Also there's some Rickenbacker 12 Strings that are hollow or semi hollow.

Daisy Rock. It may be discontinued, I saw one at GC for $199. If I had known it retailed at $350 I would have bought it that day. There's a white one and a pink one, obviously I want the white one.

Also Agile from Rondo Music has a 12 string LP and a vaugely Ric shaped 12 string. I also really want a 12 string electric, but don't really want the Dean and the Danos are expensive used (when they were like $299 new in 1999 or whatever)

Fender makes/made a 12-string strat, eitehr MIM or MIJ... way under $1k.

Schecter makes a 12-string electric too... 2 buckers, not knocked out by many of the ones I've played but a pickup change for something with more 'character' would be rad... also under $1k.

Yamaha?!? Washburn?!

I vote for Fender XII string, as far as own this axe myself, it's wonderful. It is CIJ.

I really like my Epi G1275. If it wasn't so heavy, I'd play it more often. Other than that, its a great sounding 12 string.

Re: 12 Strings guitars, what are the choices?

But it is alder? Gibson 1275 is made of mahogany

I do beleive the Epi's are alder, I'm not sure if its a combination of both. Still sounds great tho. I don't have a Gibby to compare it with tonewise, but the G1275 is still a great sounding guitar on its own.

You know, in USA this one may be good, but all the Epi's in Russia are junk. G1275 takes the first place :) And it costs about $1000

Rickenbackers for number one
Then the great brand of my home MATON make a good 12 string

Here are a few...

Also, Agile makes a few, Eastwood has 2 or 3 plus on the uised front there are several different reissue Dano's that could be had as a 12, there was the Squire Venus which IMO was actually a great guitar. I played a Schecter 12 day before yesterday...had lipstick buckers and was a gret guitar...my only issue with it was that it was a little head heavy.

Re: 12 Strings guitars, what are the choices?

I played most of them on the market.. my fav is the Fender XII 12-string stratocaster.. it's made in japan.. I got mine in burgundy mist metallic and it really sings.. playability is outstanding too
