1275: Jazz set for the 12 string side...??? for the 6 string side?

I want to replace the pickups in an Epiphone G-1275 double neck. The classic ‘70s models had T Tops, which were rather low output, clear A5 humbuckers. I figure that the Seymour Duncan Jazz set kind of gets real close to that mark. That should cover the 12 string side.

For the 6 string side, I’d like something in the same general tone, clarity and output family, but with maybe just a touch “more”. I know that, back in the day, people took their covers off, especially on the six string side. That kind of established a little delta between the pickups.

What SD offering is kind of “one step up” from the Jazz? Would it be the ‘59? Or maybe the Whole Lotta Humbucker?

When I filter the site output (Humbucker, 6 string, vintage output, bridge, Alnico 5), Jazz is last and WLH is second last. I take that to mean that WLH is second lowest. Would a set of those on the six string go well with a Jazz set on the 12?

Jazz are bright and clear and soft on mids. WLH have a soft top end and a touch more mids relatively. If it were me, I’d put the Jazz set on the six side and the WLH on the 12 strings. 12 strings sound chimey-er with a mid bump in the pickups. The Jazz set is stellar with a 6-string SG style guitar. Mahogany body is darker and the Jazz brightness compensates just right. Great for leads, rhythm, dirty and clean.

Interesting. I thought the slightly higher output and more miss might be more appropriate for the six string side. Hmmm...

Aren't the Saturday Night Specials the Duncan take on an improved T Top type pickup? For what it's worth, I was really impressed at the articulation of the full shred neck. I'd expect that to work well on the 12 string neck as well.

They might be, and sort of sound like it, but they were never expressly stated or marketed as T Top replacements.

Much more output than your standard T Top. Bridge is 9.75K. KILLER pickup, I love it. But not a T Top.
