18 inch speakers

Does any play their guitar through 18 inch speakers?

I'm interested in what amps and what speakers. I started out playing my telecaster through a road bass amp, with 200 watts and an 18 inch speaker and I would like to try that again.

That amp is long gone, but I wonder if anyone else is doing something like that today?

I like guitars throuh the chrome dome 15's but I have not tried an 18.

Word. These days, moving a 212 is as much as I want to do.

I think 18s would be beamy and inefficient at guitar frequencies.

I got rid of the amp because the box/cabinet was too heavy. Now I would just build a smaller cab for it. The sound was incredible though. Not a lot of high end, but nonetheless, it was just wonderful, deep. . .full. . .low.

But! Of the very few 18 speakers that I have found on the web, I know nothing. Never heard samples. So, I'm here hoping someone knows something about these things.

I played an 18 EV in a Musicman cab, twas huge and wonderful. Tons of guts! If you hit my link to music, check out the song BIG 18, recorded with a 68 Bassman and a Hondo II Les Paul copy. It will let you hear the vibe.. I soldthe cab, with hesitiation, because I loved it so much.

Nice music Kevlar. . .doesn't sound like humongous speakers though.

wow. those speaker cabs are H E A V Y . . . I'm thinking a 1x18 cab and not made out of the heaviest material. .
