Tough to do this, but I gotta move an amp. 1964 Gibson Mercury Head for sale, very clean for a 40 + year old amp. 2 channels, pretty much a crank it and go amp. Great 70s rock vibe, Not high gain, but very nice crunch. Filter caps have been replaced. It is a loud one, around 50 watts. Gigged several times, has worked very nicely. It has 4 inputs, 2 on each channel. PTP construction. 6l6, 6EU7 based amp. Selling it cheap!! Only 400 + of these amps made. 275.00 + 30.00 to pack and ship in the USA.

Here is a clip I did a few months back.

Re: 1964 Gibson Mercury amp head for sale.

Great Amplifiers, me and kev did a swap a while ago but i had to sell it back to him for monetary reasons(poor college kid) and i will just say that kevin is a joy to trade with as many of us know. If i had the cash id snatch this amp but unfortuately everytime a mec comes past me im broke. It could be because i am broke 90% of the time. Consider this a bump

Re: 1964 Gibson Mercury amp head for sale.

Can you give me a farily accurate idea as to the weight of the head.

My friend has a chronic back problem and is looking for a PTP head with 30 watts (or more) output but it has to be fairly light weight for him to manage.

Destroying Angel...I'm not trying to hijack your deal here.... just trying to get an idea of what to expect for weight when looking at these older heads.

Thanks

Dave

It is quite light, although you gotta haul a cab with it, as it is just the head. Much less than a Plexi or any of my Traynors. Under 30 pounds is my guess.

He has not comitted so the amp is definately on the market til I hear otherwise.

Man I really want that amp, and I can't tell you why. Other than it's built around the time I was born (66'), and it sounds good. Must resist......

Compare it tonally to a Falcon...

(yes I realize we're talking about the difference in 6L6s and 6v6s...)
