1st attempt at No More Tears

Re: 1st attempt at No More Tears

Sweet track! I love your playing on it... your vibrato is what I'm working toward man. I don't think the solo needs much work if any!

Oh and by the way, what gear do you have?

Re: 1st attempt at No More Tears

Thanks guys.
My vibrato sounds out of control to me. Needs to be better timed.
I used a PODxt and my ibanez rg321 with a CC in the bridge, into garageband.
I would have preferred to do "bloodbath in paradise" but I couldn't find the backing track. I will have to make it myself someday.

Re: 1st attempt at No More Tears

Nice playing man. Man, that custom does a nice job at throwing down some heavy tones.

Re: 1st attempt at No More Tears

Sorry bro, don't want to have to create a login just to listen. Any alternate links?

Re: 1st attempt at No More Tears

Go to the soundclick and click "hi fi'

I like the playing man, Tone was pretty dam fine as well! Shoulda thrown some of your vocals in there :)

Overall it kicked ass man!

I will soon (1-2 months) have a decent mic and pre to record guitar with, maybe then I can do vocals. I don't think I can sing that song very well though.

Re: 1st attempt at No More Tears

Hmm, keyboard is a little too loud IMHO. Guitar is nice when it comes in swirly sounding. Is this some Satchmo? As for the guitar, I'd want the amp quieter but the distortion bassier. But nice playing, and nice sound!

Re: 1st attempt at No More Tears

Yep..Keyboard too loud.
since it's a backing track, I can't lower it without also lowering drums and bass.
I'm already working on Crazy Train...and maybe later Miracle man.,cept I can't remember the solo, and I don't have the cd. I'll probably make something up like I did on no more tears.
Thanks for listening

Re: 1st attempt at No More Tears

I agree that your vibrato is off-tempo, but I also think that the sky is the limit with you, if you continue to practice.

Your pentatonic soloing isn't in the same "raw" spirit as what Zakk is doing.....you're merely playing in the same key & same frets. It's far from being note-for note. I hate to say this, but half of the "thrill" of a Zakk Wylde solo is in the bare-bones, "raw" pentatonic picking he does. As Alexi Laiho said about Zakk's playing, it isn't sexy, but it works.

Something like:
15-12-15-12..........15-12-15-12..........17-15-17-15........17-15-17-15
.................15-12.....................15-12.................17-15..................17-15

Now, I don't personally give two sh*ts about duplicating his licks, nor CAN I! But, you asked for a critique, and now you've got it. I think you sound great. And yes, I'm being sincere. Zakk is tough to duplicate. :smokin:

Re: 1st attempt at No More Tears

Not to be offensive or anything, but I don't see how the vibrato is off-tempo at all... for that matter I wasn't even aware vibrato had a tempo. Zakk's vibrato is always fast like that and I see no problem, nor do I see any problem here. Still think it sounds amazing.

Re: 1st attempt at No More Tears

Very nice job! When you get finished with another song please give us a link.

Re: 1st attempt at No More Tears

Majestic offered some good advice about the end of the solo and he is correct. Your vibrato sounds very mechanical to me. Try not to concentrate so much on being in time and just try to milk the notes. It was a VERY solid job overall and I give you huge props. Keep up the good work.

Re: 1st attempt at No More Tears

very good track!!!i liked the way you played and your tone/harmonics where killer too.!!!i liked your vibrato but sometimes was it "same" in every attempt. It is good in one way ,that shows you master it ,but you have to learn to play more from your heart ,and that is damn hard when you "cover " a song!!!
so thank you for this one and i wish i will hear more tracks!!!!

Re: 1st attempt at No More Tears
