1st recording attempts

I recently purchased a Line6 Riff Tracker, & have been having a lot of fun playing around with it. These are my first couple attempts at recording. Actually, they're the first time I've ever made any of my playing public; I've been strictly a bedroom jammer my whole life. You'll probably understand why after listening. ;) These are not long-worked on songs, just riffs that came into my head while jamming that I recorded & pasted together. I'm focusing on learning how to use the recording gear vs writing actual songs. You may notice the lack of solos; it's because I suck at them.

Guitar for the first two: Dean ZX w/Duncan Distortion bridge

For the 3rd one: Schecter C1 Hellraiser, EMG 81 bridge (stock)

Bass for all: Schecter Stiletto Deluxe 5 string

BIG sound difference for #3, but more from me playing with eq settings & pulling the bass guitar down in the mix than anything else.

Compliments welcome. Scathing critiques, less so. :D

Whoa, the first one is very cool. That's a really good CLip. You should definitely get out more. Heavy duty. I hear some Kirk Hammett vibe going on.

The second one is cool also. You really get a great groove going on. Thanks for posting your clips.

My opinion is that you most definitely do not suck. You've got some ability there. You can play no doubt about it.

Re: 1st recording attempts

The Line6 Riff Tracker is not simply a recording tool, does it have drum track also. Does Riff Tracker provide the drums that I hear in your clips. Those really sound great, especially for first recordings.

Re: 1st recording attempts

Yes, sort of. It comes with a small selection of drums, & then you can buy more drum patterns from Line6's website. You can also buy a metal-oriented pack of amp models (or a classic-oriented selection) & a ton of pedals. I immediately purchased several drummer packs & the metal amp pack, & those are really all I use. The overall drum quality is great, but I'd like a much more aggressive style (double kick, etc). Check out Line6's site, they've got samples for all of it.

Thanks for the positive response!
