2 Cork sniffer oddball questions

Good day,
Question 1:
I had MJ make me a WLH in the Cust.Shop. I love the sound to death. But.....I had her make me a zebra, and the new cream color is slightly more yellow, just a tad, but it bugs me.
Would it not be stupid to send it back for the "normal" cream as maybe this is the color of their new
Large batch of bobbins, rendering the back and forth and rewind just a crap shoot that it may or may not match the cream coils I have had over the years?
Question 2:
I always prefer uncovered bridge p'ups. Yes I know it will never be agreed on. You hear it or you don't.
I have a 12 hole nickel polished HBucker cover. I sanded the edges hard and found no copper. So:
Before I take it apart, would the 6 openings for the slugs and 6 for the screws make it sound to my particular cork sniffing ears the same as no cover? Eddy currents confuse me, so feel free to talk down to me.
I really appreciate it, and will ask for parchment zebras next time.

I have several of those exact covers one I aged with white vinegar, it was the thing I tried, but the touch more yellowish was still very prominent *to me* as you would say.
How about the other question, of the batch of slightly different bobbins, I imagine they must get those in quantities of thousands maybe.

Couldn't hurt to ask. They'll probably have to rebuild the pickup for you but they're also super nice and since they save the specs and everything they can probably do it in a matter of minutes (these guys super pro). Worst case they'll just say they can't do it unless you pay for it.

Just ask. I am not sure of any prices, but you will know through email what your options are. Hard to make a decision if you don't know what you are deciding on.

For Question 1
If I had a great sounding, custom, MJ-wound WLH, but the color bugged me, I would just hold on to it and enjoy that sound all the live-long day ...and maybe get a little counseling for my no-yellow cream fetish (since real Dmz-cream is actually a deeper dirtier pinkish-yellow than Duncan's.) But hey that's me. Not saying anything about anybody else. (Hey, you'll notice I notice a difference between Duncan and DMZ cream, right?)

For Question 2
If uncovered is preferred, it's not clear to me why you want a cover that sounds like no cover?? If you are a confessed cork-sniffer, than everything changes the sound (even sometimes when only a meter can detect it.) If you want the no cover sound, I think the best option is uncovered. Or is this an extreme desperate attempt to cover the-one-cream-bobbin-that-is-too-yellow-though-it's-still-lighter-than-real-DMZ cream? I would start with a really good prescription, and after that see if a cover is still needed. I'd prescribe 4-6 hours of rocking out per day and see if the cover is still necessary by next Saturday.

Great answers. Beaubrummels the only reason I was thinking about a cover was the slight yellow of one coil. In hindsight,
I took Pepe's advice about the mojo cover under new advisement, literally lined up another zebra I had and at some angles I could barely notice it others it was more prevalent. I decided it was cork sniff close enough in color, gonna use the mojo cover,
and forget the whole hassle of going back and forth with the mail, bugging MJ over such a minor thing.
It is such a great pick up I will take Beaubrummels Rx of just playing it and forget the rest.
Mincer - bonus Question - if I may ask you, as you seem to have a lot of experience with 59/Cust, the WLH just crackles and crunches so nicely at volume, and you know how much I love that p'up too, I wonder if I could get just a tad more grit by putting a RC A5 in the 59/Cust?

2 of my Hybrids have RCA5 magnets, so that is how I prefer them. I don't know if you get more 'grit', but it does push an amp differently, and sort of trims the presence off, which I really like.

Don't know about the hybrids, but I would put an RCUOA5 right up there for replacing a polished A5. Maybe a bit less top and bottom, but the mids almost have a life of their own.

Thank you for replying. That helps. I think I will try a RC A5 first, so I can compare texture to some polished A5 that are in same wind and output area. Grit: so hard to express, means all the same to me, grit, chunky, a little dirty, crunchy, tubes getting a good hard push. The WLH has this "grit" and still cleans up nicely. The 59/Custom I use to get more volume, and it gets some grit, AND also cleans up nicely. It is just a little more polite than the WLH.
Do you know what I mean? I feel I say things, since I joined, that most folks misunderstand, and I take responsibility for
that. But thanks, a really great learning thread for me - this has been. I did not meant to sound like yoga.
