Hi i`m Gathering parts to rewire my s470 with new pups, just want to keep things basic really. going for 2 Humbucker 3 way switch and 1 volume pot. my question is can i get a bridge+neck coil split on middle position using a three way? or would it have to be neck full, bridge full and both full/off?

thanks. Ste.

Re: 2 Humbucker coil split with a 3 way selector.

Thanks mate. there's a start. are you aware of a blade type switch as don't really want to drill holes in it. :)

Re: 2 Humbucker coil split with a 3 way selector.

You can fit the EP1111 in the tone knob hole but you'll have to enlarge it. I'm not aware of 4p3t 3-way blades, you can use a 5-way megaswitch style superswitch for 5 sounds or use a normal 3 way blade with a miniswitch in the tone knob hole for splitting.

Re: 2 Humbucker coil split with a 3 way selector.

With it being an s series there is quite a large hole for the lever switch and mounting plate so looks as if a push pull coil split is my best option.

So would i wire in the north side of bridge and south side of neck to push pull switch cutting signals out?

You can do this with a standard 3-way if you don't mind the "split" mode to be in series, to form a virtual 3rd/middle humbucker.

That is exactly what i was thinking. thanks for that dude! :D what are the commons on the diagrams? Excuse me being a total noob to guitar wiring.

Dadgum ArtieToo, your diagrams just get better. I don't have that kind of dedication.

The commons are the poles, those lugs that are being connected to each of the "position" lugs, when handling the switch.

Noticed something odd on my 3way selector the pins 2-7 are joined in 2's. Also 2 more pins half way down the one side. presume they are earth point?

bit confused now :(

That switch will work fine, but I'll have to post the translation tonight. I won't be home until around 11pm.

thats cool dude. :) would i need to seperate pins? found a diagram of same switch with neck-both-bridge configuration.

but that uses middle 6 pins in blocks of 2.

Re: 2 Humbucker coil split with a 3 way selector.

Quickly wired my bridge pickup. the Duncan distortion is ace. the clean sound was great and the overdrive was brutal as. gonna try wiring the rest up later.

Re: 2 Humbucker coil split with a 3 way selector.

Just to be clear, if you want what I posted in post #7, then you need a 3-way switch rather than a 5-way.

Remove the two jumpers on the sides, and leave the one in the middle. Add the jumper that I show in red. Then wire it like this:

P.S. Your hand is holding the end of the switch that should be mounted facing the bridge.

Re: 2 Humbucker coil split with a 3 way selector.

Fantastic dude! Thank you. My switch is 3position blade so presume that's correct.

Will hook it up now. :D

Re: 2 Humbucker coil split with a 3 way selector.

You're welcome. That, btw, is one my favorite "simple" wiring schemes for 2-humbuckers.

Re: 2 Humbucker coil split with a 3 way selector.

Done and works! :D the middle split is top of both humbuckers. is that right?
