Hey all of you guys that own a Wolfgang.....and other guitars too........what do you prefer 2 or 3 springs??? I find that I get too much tension on a wolfgang special with 3 springs have you tried it with two????
THX a lot

Re: 2 or 3 Springs???????

anything with a non-recessed trem i use 5 springs. 2 and a tremsetter with a recessed floyd. i have no experience with wolfgangs though, sorry.

Re: 2 or 3 Springs???????

I play my Ibanez SA160QM with 2-springs. It's a little less tense, but not too much. My Prestige RG has 3-springs and it plays a lot nicer, so a lot of it may be in how well your guitar is setup.

Re: 2 or 3 Springs???????

Is the special non recessed?

Anyway i have the Us standard and i have 2 springs on it..I had to tighten the tension screws a bit just today to get the floyd fully flush with the body as it was setup for having 9-42 but im using 9-46 so theres a bit more tension and the other strings were going slightly sharp when i dropped D with the D-Tuna..

Re: 2 or 3 Springs???????

5 springs and a purpleheart block!!! the sustain is MUCHO GRANDE!

Re: 2 or 3 Springs???????

Floating with 4 springs on all Floyded axes. 5 springs is too stiff, 3 isn´t strong enough for the strings I play (12s in standard)

Re: 2 or 3 Springs???????

I use 10-46 strings in standard tuning, and I have my Wolfgang set up for downward use of the bar only. I find that three springs works best for me.

Re: 2 or 3 Springs???????

I used 3 springs on my RG, 2 was alwas a little too light for me - 9-42's in standard

Re: 2 or 3 Springs???????

It depends on the size of strings you are using and what your tuning at. :)
