2-point Trems: Any experience with ABM, Hipshot Contour or cheap Wilky/Mighty Mite?

I've used my share of Gotohs, Floyds and high-end Wilkinsons, but was thinking of trying something different just for fun. What I'm wondering is if anyone here has tried...

1) An ABM (German made?) Wilkinson-type:

2) A Hipshot US Contour:

3) The 2-point Wilkinson or Mighty Mite bridge w/ Steel saddles:

The Hipshot is pretty cool. Don't have the bushings installed in mine (using the stock ones), so there's some tuning issue I need to sort out.

Soundwise, seems to sound a little 'bigger' than the old Fender bridge. Needs to be raised quite high to achieve a 1 step up pull on the G string.

My favorite 2 point bridge is the Gotoh 510 with steel block.

I'd love to throw on a 510 series trem, but I need a Black bridge. You can't find a Black 510 easily in the U.S., let alone at a decent price!

Anyone else?

I bet the abm would be something special.

I've got Wilkinson VS100/50's on three of mine. I'd have no hesitation in putting them on any future guitar with a trem, assuming they drop straight in, as they do on a Strat.

I had a Strat Plus that came stock with the Hipshot Trem. The guitar had awful tuning issues caused by the using the trem. If you used the trem the guitar was flat, and the bridge wasn't returning to its original position. At the time it was a new product, and the techs at the store I bought the guitar at couldn't resolve the issue. In the end I traded the guitar in on an SRV Strat. I was unhappy with the trem, and the lace pickups weren't for me either. It was the last two point trem Strat that I've owned until this very day.

Those came with a Hipshot "Tremsetter" installed in the spring cavity: LINK

The bridge itself was a Fender unit.

I can understand you not liking the feel and function of the "bridge" if your tech(s) couldn't set up the tremsetter correctly, but that wasn't really an issue with the actual 2-point system per se (though you probably didn't know any better at the time).

It might do you well to check out the various 2-point systems again. There are some great performers out there :)

I will have to give them another shot. Perhaps I was hasty, but old habits die hard. I have to say that I really can't justify another Strat purchase anyway. I've been gassing to build a Tele partscaster. I'm thinking if I get another guitar that's what it will be. All my current Strats are either 6 point or a hardtail.

The Gotoh VS100N is not that expensive. I just installed one on my Charvel Journeyman, and it works flawlessly.
