2 questions involving Chorus and Stereo FX

1)Chorus

What is a good bang for you buck chorus pedal around the $120 mark? Cheaper is fine but that is more of less my cap.

I'm not a huge fan of Boss chorus. It gets the job done but always felt a bit sterile to my ears. I've considered a couple of MXR pedals. Namely the Black Label Chorus and and M134 Stereo Chorus. I've been impressed by both.

The M134 is pricier but have a line on one local for $82. The major drawback is the footprint and that it is 18v. I have limited space on my board and if I have to choose between this and my Electric Mistress the chorus will win.
The Black Label Chorus really caught my ear and the reviews have been excellent. Plus it won't break the bank.

Other pedals will be considered but I would really like someone to weigh in on the 2 mentioned.

2) Getting the most out of stereo fx... with one amp.

I discovered blending the channels on my AC15 and it gives a great tone. I run stereo out of my DD20. I was considering whether or not to do this with one signal wet and the other dry. Maybe run one In with no FX and the other with? Would the blend of the two tones make sense? The Electric Mistress let's me run stereo out. One with flange and the other dry... so O could run that as first mod pedal. The Dry out could go direct to the DD20 and the wet coule go through the rest of the chain?

Worth the trouble or would the tonal difference even be noticable?

See if you can find a used Boss CE2. They sound awesome. I have 2 & I am seriously considering a third.

Digitech Chorus Factory. Models a handful of chorus pedals, and very quiet too.

The MXR Stereo Chorus is awesome but I didn't like having the extra 18v wallwart.
I returned to my trusty standard for the last 20+ years...the Ibanez SC-10.

Best chorus IMO, but the OP asked for stereo, which the CE-2 is not.

Yeh CE-2's do sound lush but they are mono...CE3's on the other hand a are stereo and heaps cheaper. Why? cos they dont sound as good....however....a couple of cheap ass cap changes and VOILA! - a lush, warm stereo version of the CE2!
Ive a/b ed with a ce2 and a ce3 until it was all good. There is info in another thread about what caps to swap - or if you im me i can dig them up from my hard drive somewhere.

I own the black label, doesn't give me that 80s chorus, but does do a nice subtle chorus on cleans.

I prefer voodoo labs chorus, the other mxr chorus is good and oddly enough, hardwire chorus is pretty good. I always liked line 6's chorus.

Thanks for the tips so far.

I'm really looking for using it on cleans. Not a crazy 80's distortion thing.

And Stereo isn't essential. Since my delay is last in line and it is Stereo..

The choruses I have: Boss CEB-3 for bass, Boss DC-3 Digital Dimension, Electro-Harmonix Small Clone, and Ibanez CF7. My favorite one is the CEB-3. When I use chorus, I like the most tame, almost unnoticeable settings, and this pedal does that the best, without jacking up my tone or introducing noise. The Ibanez is the opposite, with the most in-your-face, lo-fi chorus sound, which is fun sometimes. The DC-3 is cool because when it's cranked up, it doesn't get the wacky vibrato sound that other choruses get. The Small Clone is now my least favorite chorus, since it can't be tamed as much as the Bosses, and it cuts out my low and high frequencies. I play a baritone guitar, and I need a full response at the extreme frequencies.

Also, I am not into stereo delay effects. I like to place a chorus pedal after my delay. If I ever run my stuff in stereo, I'll either use a chorus or a reverb at the end of my chain as a signal splitter.

oh yeh...fwiw....the boss choruses eg CE2 and modified CE3 do sound lush...but the bypass is nothing special...in fact its why my chorus is not on my board.
Voodoo labs do a really sexy true bypass CE1 clone tho....

Once upon a time I had a Voodoo Lab Chorus... I sold it and went with a POD... now I am back to pedals. I wouldn't mind getting another.

I keep going back and forth but I think I am going to kick the Mistress and replace it with chorus (any takers?) Chorus is just more usable for me. Plus I will save room if I decide to add anything else to my board.
