2 Single Sized Humbuckers and 1 Full Size Hum / Doug Aldrich

Is it possible to install 2 single coil size humbuckers in neck and middle, and a regular full size humbucker in the bridge on a Strat? There seems to be no explicit wiring diagrams of that specific setup. The only ones I found were the "EVERYTHING AXE SET" wiring diagram and the "2 SINGLE COILS | 1 HUMBUCKER 1 VOLUME | 2 TONE | 5 WAY BLADE" diagram.

I plan to have a 5 way blade switch. 1 Volume, and 2 tone knobs.

I suppose I would just use those two diagrams and try to match up the wires as best as I can. Hopefully that would work.

I was also thinking about perhaps putting in a Doug Aldrich pickup in the bridge. Apparently they use the same wiring codes as seymour duncan.

Are there any passive Seymour Duncan pickups that are higher output than the Doug Aldrich?

Absolutely! Just solder the red & white wires of the single coil-sized humbuckers together and use the black as hot, and the green & bare as ground. As far as higher output passives, check out the JB, Distortion, Invader, SLUG, Alternative 8 and Black Winter.

ok great!

If I just wanted to put in a single sized humbucker in the neck and a full size humbucker in the bridge and have no middle pickup at all, I assume the wiring is still the same, just omitting the middle pickup wiring of course?

I was going to put in a Doug Aldrich by Suhr in the bridge and a Duncan Hot Rail in the neck. I am used to playing gibson les pauls so I figured that is all I need for now and may add the middle pickup at some other time. This is for my crappy 1995 fender squier strat so I am just hoping it brings a new life to the instrument.

I know EVH only had one humbucker in the bridge and no other pickups lol! Unless I am mistaken.

If you're going to be using the Everything Axe diagram be careful, some of them have the Duckbucker wired out of phase. This can sound cool if you are in fact using a Duckbucker but if you were to put a lil 59 in its place the out of phase wiring would sound pretty awful....

Thank for pointing that out. The specific diagram I was referring to was "EVERYTHING AXE SET | 1 VOLUME 2 TONES | 5 WAY BLADE" which I believe has a Duckbucker in the middle position. I planned on having a hot rail in the middle. Also, a hot rail in the neck and a Suhr Doug Aldrich humbucker in the bridge.

In that case I suppose I could use the "3 SINGLE COIL SIZED HUMBUCKERS 1 VOLUME | 2 TONE | 5 WAY BLADE" diagram and treat the bridge pickup in the diagram as a humbucker instead of a singlecoil size bucker. Would that work?

The wiring for "3 SINGLE COIL SIZED HUMBUCKERS 1 VOLUME | 2 TONE | 5 WAY BLADE"" and "EVERYTHING AXE SET | 1 VOLUME 2 TONES | 5 WAY BLADE" look exactly the same. Only difference looks to be the wiring of the middle pickup. I guess the difference is attributed to the "out of phase" phenomena you mentioned.

Sorry I am a total noob when it comes to electricity and am currently trying to learn more about it when I get a chance.
