Hi
Ibanez : model Unknown
That is my 2 Ibanez Roadstar II that i don't know the model ...
The Black seems to be a RG420BK & the Creme RG135WH or RS135WH ? ( but for this one the neck seems not to be original 85-86 ?!)
Unknown Ibanez ... need to know for parts & pieces ... none of them have tremolo, whammy ... & where to buy ?
Thank a lot !

ps: do you think that it will be a good idea to change the pickups ?

Re: 2 UNKNOWN IBANEZ MODEL

Both are 1986.

White: RG135WH, part of the 'Standard' range. I'm not sure where you could get a Power Rocker whammy. Sometimes they come up on eBay.
Black: RG420BK, 'Deluxe' range. Edge trem, for which parts are easily available new and used.

Re: 2 UNKNOWN IBANEZ MODEL

As for pickups, well, it's personal. I have a couple of Ibz from this period and the stock pups weren't my thing, so I changed them. Out of all of them, the bridge humbucker I found to be the best, pretty thick and gainy sounding. Singles are ok, but they don't have that sparkle and presence alnico ones do if you're into that.

The single coils are Super 7F - two small ceramic rail mags on either side of the pole pieces underneath, wound to 3-4k. Humbuckers are IBZ (nothing like the later DiMarzio/IBZ pups) - three ceramic magnets, 12-13k. All are epoxied into the cover like an EMG.

Thinking about it further, I wonder if the Edge trem arm would fit the Power Rocker as it has the same pop-in design. Certainly works for the Pro Rock'r, which was on '84-'85 guitars.

Re: 2 UNKNOWN IBANEZ MODEL

My old, off-white RG410 came home to roost back in July. It rocks like crazy thanks to a twentieth century SH-4 JB wound by MJ. Your guitars could probably be persuaded to sound more like the Ibanez Holdsworth signature models with an SHAH-1B or a JB2.

Earlier examples of the RG135, 140 and 200 had the Super 5 single coil. Bar polepiece with a single underslung ceramic bar magnet. Terrible pickup.

Just a wild guess here, but www.ibanezrules.com has been around since forever and they specialize in everything Ibanez.
Might be a good starting point to get the missing bits you need.
