2 volume pots <> separate volume for each pickup?

Looking at this diagram:

http://www.seymourduncan.com/pdfs/support/schematics/2h_2v_2t_3w.pdf

I expected the 2 volume pots to control the volume of each pickup separately. I just finished wiring and if either volume control is "at zero" there is no volume from either pickup when the 3 way is in the middle position.

Is it normal for the volume with the lowest value to be the dominant one since both volumes are in the circuit?

Is there a wiring scheme that will allow you to adjust the volumes independent of one another?

Yup. You've just discovered the "problem" of dual-vol guitars.

Yup. Done on paper. Going to test it this week. I've already done a preliminary test and it works fine. I'm just perfecting a tweak now.

Stay tuna-ed. ;)

Edit: Btw, this works way better than the faulty "trick" of reversing the input/output of the volume pots.

Re: 2 volume pots <> separate volume for each pickup?

I have a bass without any selector witches. I'd follow a bass diagram if I were going to try to wire one up myself.

I have a feeling that there is a reason a bass is wired this way and guitars aren't though, but I dont know what it could be right now.

Just look at diagrams for independent volume control. I wire all my guitars like that. All you have to do is switch the lugs that the toggle and PU/tone wires are on. Looking from the bottom, the pot on the left is ground (in either scenario), make the middle lug the PU/tone wires, and the right lug the toggle wire. Then you have independent volume controls. Only takes a minute to move the wires.

I'm sorry but I don't understand what you mean by "the pot on the left is ground". I am pretty new to all this - you wouldn't happen to have a diagram or a picture of what you mean?

He meant the "lug" on the left.
